Searched, but nothing relevant. 93 240.I put new belts on a few months ago and theyre in good shape, no squeal, but after a hard run(a gear or two to 5k, when i come to a stop i smell a burning smell, and it smells like a belt. And if i get out, i can tell its from the front of the car. I used to have a 96 probe and that POS had the same problem bad, but the belts squealed and smelled all the time no matter how new or correctly tightend they were. I could be all wrong, the clutch is a piece of junk too, the guy i bought it from replaced with a autozone cheapo one and it works for daily speeds but slips on a launch. Maybe thats the smell? Does it smell similar to a belt burning? So basically i wanna know how to fix this problem or if anyone has any experience with it. thanks in advance-Devin

<shrugs> the fan clutch has a silicone-based fluid internally... stick your hand down there & see if there's any "seepage"

silicone is normally odorless in this application... <shrugs>

if you launch/drive heavily most of the time, guess underdrive pulleys may help? <shrugs>

or kevlar-impregnated belt upgrade? i dunno...
