95 ka24de stock drivetrain. Recently hit a patch of ice and did a little drift and pull out of it nicely but something popped in the rear and now it'll "stall" and pick back up..almost the feeling of running out of gas....that jerking motion...and it'll do it more first starting off...starting in 2nd helps but it's completely random when it does it...I think its the diff. any ideas before i buy a new diff would be very appreciated.

Trust me if it was your diff it would stop working all together and either lock up or neutralize permanently

IDK what it is since you say it's random but it's deff not the diff.

well i can only hope its that. Make the RB25 swap im about to do that much more feasible. When it does it it makes a meatalic popping sound in the rear...like in the area of the diff....i was thinkin maybe it broke some teeth of the gear and it will randomly loose the grip on the few it has left..

So does the engine rev as though the car was in neutral when it does this or does it cut out and you just loose speed as though the car were out of gas??..

yeah its not so much of a cutting out but a sudden stoppege or a binding on the drivetrain....transmission/diff/driveshaft one of those guys..

Well that's just wierd....

Here's a idea though... check all the bushings around your rear diff, half shafts, and drive shaft. Could be shifting position and putting the driveline into a bind. I've seen that happen before. Only thing I could think of that would be intermittent like that.
