My 96 came with some chewed up bumpers. The front has several paint deep scratches as well as 2 hex-bolt looking indentations. The rear has a semi crunched corner (appears to have bumped something fairly hard. The damage is really only skin deep. I went to a body shop and was quoted over a $1000 for repairing and repainting the skins. My question is this, how much should I expect to pay for used already painted skins? Are used, immaculate bumper skins even a practical request?

You'll pay too much. Its rare to find a front clip without the headlights / foglights. I looked awhile back and nobody would part with only the front bumper. To find an immaculate one with the same color would only increase the odds. I'd just get them fixed and painted or get a NISMO or NICO sticker and slap it on.

Think of the age of these bumpers. I just had my front & rear covers replaced & repainted only 11 months ago and already the front one has rock chips and such. Finding used ones in great condition is gonna be rare. Finding ones in great condition and for sale should be nearly impossible. Labor to repair yours may cost about the same as just buying new ones if they have enough damage. Sorry. Scottsdale Infiniti has the best prices for them. Bought mine there.

You can get whole parts cars for $500. Of course, the bumpers are ususally as bad as your description. I paid $175 for some deep scratches fixed, and a quick re-paint of the entire bumper on th silver Q (look at the pics - it looks great). I met the guy, at a used car lot. His entire business, is re-painting used car bumpers. I bet 75% of all used cars, have re-painted bumpers.

a $1,000 paint job is MUCH better, but you are talking about a car that is workt about $5,000. a $1,000 paint job on the bumpers is a little high, in my opinion.

By the way, I need to have the black car's bumpers painted because they look about the way yours sound. The previous owner worked where there was a really tight parking garage, and the front bumpers are scraped up prety bad. There are some stress cracks in the paint as well, where he pulled up a little too far. The front license plate dug into the bumper, and the plate screws dug holes in the cover.

I am budgeting about $400 for the body work and paint, when I have time.

Thanks for the advice but I would like to think that my car is worth more than $5k. 63k miles and what I described is the only flaws on the entire car.
