Hey guys, have anyone tried an after market front bumper protection. I didn't want to use an auto bra. I heard of a clear protective coating. Have anyone tried a product like this?? Just asking. I've a few rock chips.

There are a few possibilities. One is at www.stongard.com ... expensive, but well worth it from what I understand (I have not used it myself).

Places like this: http://www.clearmask.com/auto-clear-bra ... n-film.php
3M is stil one of the best that I've seen... doesn't turn yellow as fast as cheaper films.

I have a 3m clear bra. I've had it for over 2 years and love it. It was very expensive. I got it at www.pro-tectfilm.com/Las-Vegas Good Luck

I took a 2000 mile road trip last year and in the process just picked up an insane amount of wear on my front bumper.
The clear coat cracked in 30 places. If you're doing the same, a cost-effective way to protect against chips might actually be a heavy application of plastidip. It's removable, so whenever you don't want it anymore, it will come right off.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum (and to the M45, which I am lovin!), but I just hate the fact that the rock chips are seeming to accumulate daily on my [obsidian] front bumper from normal driving. I want to keep it looking as good as possible, but I also don't want to feel so limited on where I can and can't drive; are there any updates/tips on better protection against bugs, rock chips, etc.? I would really love to be able to take trips with the car, but I'm so paranoid that by the time I get home, the paint will look 10x worse.

Any more personal experiences/recommendations/tips?

Mate, that is absolutely staggering! I imagine the paint should be in excellent condition before they apply it. On an older car I reckon it should be applied AFTER a paint correction has been done so the surface is free of swirls, foggy patches, etc. Still it's well worth the price to be able to keep a perfect finish with much less effort then a normal clear coat finish.
Would you mind terribly if I ask how much it costs to do the entire car?
