I have a 2001 Pathfinder. It has two tone paint - body (silver) and bumper (grey) has different paints. I can find the paint information on the body, but not that on the bumper. However, I noticed that my friend's Pathfinder has the same bumper paint but the body is black. Is there a common bumper paint for the 2001 pathfinder? If so, does anyone know the code?

i've tried too. the closest thing to the color is a peweter off the maximas. drive next to one at the dealer and compare. they are very close

Good idea. I will try to compare the bumper to the cars parked on the dealer lot, maybe I can find the matching color. Here are pictures of my pathfinder.

yeah thats the same color i have. if those marks on your rear bumper are just scuffs, you can remove them with rubing compound and polishing compound then wax

exactly what i was gonna say, in fact im lazy and i skip the rubbing compund, my favorite cleaner wax (NXT) alone would do the trick. Those scuffs come right off

ya it smells alrite. actually my favorite smelling wax is allbrite

http://www.allbritecarcareproducts.com/

they make very legit product and i am lucky to live near a wholesale distributor who is willing to sell retail. Its the same **** all the best detailers use, "professional" detailers dont use NXT (cause it too expensive)

I already tried buffing out the scuffs with the rubbing compound. Unfortunately, what left are just scratches of the paint and need some touch up. I will look for the peweter color. Thanks.

I did a bit search. The pewter color could have color code of KY2:http://www.courtesyparts.com/1....html

Hey trailrider! I have the same color '01 Pathfinder and the same problem. How'd that pewter work out for you? I just hit a deer and found out that an aftermarket bumper cover+grille insert+ paint would still be less than half the cost of my insurance deductible, so I just might just D.I.Y. this one. By the way, is your body color code KR4?

I did give it a try. I tried KY2: http://www.courtesyparts.com/1....html which is polished pewter, and KX0 http://www.courtesyparts.com/1..._5906, which is used in 2001 Pathfinder. The dealer part department is quite nice, and let me try them first before buying. Unfortunately, both are a bit off. I also checked the bodyshop, as suggested by the Nissan dealer. The body shop can make a touch up paint mix for me for $50 or so. I have not got time for that yet and do not know how it will be.

I don't have the Pathfinder with me right now. I can check the code later to see if it is KR4.

Good luck with you fix. Please let me know if you find a good solution.

I just got off of the phone with a cutomer rep. at Nissan North America who says it's KR2, Dark Titanium, but I honestly am a little wary of the info- he didn't seem to be terrribly smart or sure of himself.

If they can let you try it first, that will be great. This is actually the first time that I heard any dealer give any suggestion on the bumper code. Please let me know how it turns out if you do give it a try.

I searched the site I used for a peak of the color, but the paint looks quite differently from regular touch-up paint: http://www.courtesyparts.com/t....html

No, this wasn't a dealer. This was a phone jockey at Nissan North America (headquarters?)customer care who first couldn't find any info on the bumper paint, then put me on hold to do a little research, and came back and told me KR2 for the bumpers and fender flares. If this was a guy at a dealership who actually had experience with some real life cars, I'd be more inclined to put faith in his answer. The guy at the dealer actually told me he couldn't help me and that I should call Nisaan North America. Oh well, time to pick up a jar and experiment!

I just picked up a 2000 QX4 and the bumpers were all beat up with scrapes. I first tried my version of rubbing compound, which is using Turtle wax chrome polish, it has just a hair of grit to it, and it does a good jobs on the scratches. Put some maguires wax on it afterward and it makes it look good again...

Is there an options code sticker somewhere? My Corvette has one.I looked in the obvious places on my '01 PF (under the hood, driver's door jamb, glove box) and didn't find one, but there's a good bet Nissan put one somewhere.

I've got some bumper scratches on the corners too -- there's always some idiotin the launch ramp parking lot that forgets that his boat trailer runs 6" insidethe tow vehicle -- and the same paint job, so I'm interested in the answer.

Funny story if it wasn't sad: While I was setting up at the boatramp one morning, the guy across from me with a brand-new 4-Runner (didn'thave plates yet) spent a bit of effort getting dead center in his parking spot. While were cleaning the dive gear that afternoon, the 4-Runner is still there, and the bubba next to it pulls out and manages to hit the left front fender flareon the 4-Runner. Well, dumb bubba looks really stupid, and I start snapping pictures with a 400mm lens (of bubba, his license plate, the damage). Thenbubba jumps in his truck and just pulls through, and tears up the fender on4-Runner. DUH. At this point, bubba has not left a note. Bubba did leave anote after he pulled his boat, I checked, it did have a name and phone number. I left a note with my name, phone number, and e-mail address, just in case bubba had left a fake. I never heard anything, so I guess bubba'sinsurance made it right,
