Got two dings on my rear bumper. The Nissan touch up paint (per VIN #) doesn't seem to match the original color of my 09 rogue which is gotham grey. First application (3 coats) seems to be a shade lighter. Can anybody recommend a better paint product??

The OEM paint will be your best match. It only looks different because the car's been in the sun and the weather for 2 years and the touch-up paint hasn't. I'm assuming you got a pair of license plate bolt dings from the guy behind you. You really have two reasonable options:

1. The best option is to sand, fill, blend with an airbrush, wet sand and polish. Check online or in the phone book to see if there's someone in your area who can come to your home to do the job. Only takes about an hour or so and costs about $200.

2. Stick with the OEM touch-up paint. Eventually, it will weather and will look more like the color of the vehicle. Just remember to shake that bottle for at least a minute and only apply it when the temperature is over 60 degrees F. If the dings aren't too deep, you can just blob the paint on in several coats (this can take several days) and use a product called Langka to smooth out the blob. It takes some practice, but keep trying and you'll get it right. You can be a bit sloppy when applying, since you're going to wipe off the excess paint anyway with a fine cloth that sits over a credit-card plastic thingy. Just don't tell your significant other that you had to cut up a $30, 600 thread count pillow case to wipe paint off the car.

Thanks for the info....never heard of a Langka??
My procedure was to mask the ding area as close as possible around the ding , blob on the touch up paint, wait 30 min and smooth out with 600 grit wet sandpaper. I repeated about 3 times, buffed out with polishing compond and polished, but the color is still a shade lighter to me. I did shake the s out of the touch up tube and heard the agitator moving so i think the paint was well mixed and above 60F. It's been a week and still looks the same to me. Strangely enough, I did some stone knicks on the hood and that seem to match closer. Metal vs plastic?????????
