Bumper Building 101

Alright, Im going to need all the help I can get here!! I am planning on building some custom bumpers for my 97 Pathfinder. Ive looked at a ton of different styles of grille guards/bull bars and they are just so expensive I figured Id try to make one myself! Ive seen some pretty sick ones online want to give it a go. Maybe a bumper/grille guard combo~ My buddy has a shop where we can do welding and such, so thats not an issue.

Does anyone have any experience in this field? Any advice I need to hear before I begin this awesome project?? Ill have plenty of time during the holiday season so I'm looking to get it done then.

im assuming you have a tube bender and a sheetmetal brake?

I had planned on making it out of sheet metal, but after my recent visit to the junk yard, Im thinking more of just doing some cutting and welding to modify a tube bumper that I found there. I dont have access to a tube bender so it kind of limits my options. If I did, would you have some specs or plans?
