My rb20det s13 project is at about that point where I am looking into upgrading the turbo. I will be fabbing a top mount t3 mani myself and now I just need to narrow down the turbo selection. I have been looking at things such as the Garrett GT/GTX 3071 as the approximate size of the turbo I want to go with and stumbled upon the Bullseye Power s256 turbo. From the info that I have gathered it appears to be a Borg Warner/air werks s200 with some modification by bullseye. Here is the compressor map

looks pretty awesome to me. Anyways I just wanted to get honest feedback and opinions on this turbo set up for an rb20det. I dont really have any experience with borg warner so any comments would be appreciated. I would really like to get some insight on the reliability and and quality of these units. Seems almost impossible that I can pick one of these up for under $1k.

Someone on here has a Borg warner turbo on the RB20, I can't remember what size it was but it looked pretty small. He also had the RB26 ITB's on it. He has since started his RB24 build duno if he finished it yet tho.

I think i have seen that post. I mainly want to get some insight on the quality of these turbos. I am assuming since they use a Borg Warner to start with they have to be pretty decent. I just have no experience with the company at all. The map for the Bullseye Power s256 is what really got me thinking too. I also like the fact that they run under $1000, which, lets face it, is pretty boss for a turbo. Ive just always been a "you get what you pay for" kinda guy so some first hand exp would be nice.

Sounds like they are quite the deal. I will do a little more research before I make a final decision, but I am definantly leaning towards this turbo. From what I understand the s256 from bullseye is quite responsive, does anyone have any idea what type of spool profile this turbo has. Mainly when does it come onto boost and what rpm range does it make peak power. I have somewhat of an idea from the compressor map, but without seeing the map for the turbine side its hard to get the whole picture. I suppose it would be similar to the 3071 or 3076. Hopefully it wont be too laggy on the rb20.

i cant help you with that specific turbo but i can tell you that everyone i know that has a BW loves it, i come from the Rx7 community and everyone raves about them, never seen any issues and they all spool faster then most equivalent turbos from other companies for a fraction of the price
