Is there any way to Bulletproof* my engine?

It's lasted enough crap with the previous owner to be NEO from the Matrix, but I'm not comfortable revving the engine higher than 5500 if I want or need to (yes, i know the band of power is from 3500 to 5500), and I was wondering, what would be the best (and possibly cheapest?;) ) thing to put on so it can take a beating better?

I've heard that the KA24de needs "rocker control arms?" or something like that, so that It can rev higer without blowing up or doing some damage.

Thanx for any suggestions :D

what are you planning on doing to the engine? If it's going to be natrally aspirated then you need to lighten the internals and balance them for extreme RPMs. Forged crankshaft, forged aluminium-magnesium-titanium conecting rods, hyper eutectic aluminium pistons with thicker ring lands, titanium valve shims, titanium valves. There is all kinds of things that can be done. None of them is cheap. Read "Pro Engine Blue Printing" by Ben Watson. That will give you a good idea of what your getting in too.

BTW: I don't believe the KA24DE has rocker arms. the cam lobes push on shims that push on the valves, only the SOHC KA24E has rockers.
