Hey guys,

I swapped out the stock halogen bulbs in my 02 Altima 2.5SL with some Redline "Hiperwhite" bulbs which are 100W. I love the bulbs without a doubt, only problem is that Im on my 6th pair! Either the driver side burns out first or they both burn out, one pair burnt out (both) only after having them in for 4 days. Is there any specific reason why they would be burning out so easily/fast? Does anybody have any other reccomendations for Halogen bulbs (besides PIAA)

Thanks!

The wattage is way too high for what the harness can handle. You should be using a 55w bulb. Your either using cheaply made bulbs or its a combination of the high wattage as well.

but this wouldn't cause the bulb to burn out it would cause the harness to melt. The bulb burning out would be caused by the to much current on the cars side of the circuit. I had sylvania's in my last 2 cars. Never had a problem Might trying upgrading the harness with bigger wiring if the kit if out.

Are you touching the bulbs with your bare hands? The oils left on the bulb will cause them to blow prematurely. Wait, that didn't sound good. Just be very careful not to touch the bulb when replacing.

BTW Sylvania Siverstars are awesome! They don't have that blue tint to them, just bright white light, which I prefer. A bit pricey though, but still cheaper than PIAA.

I was thinking the same thing... Never touch the glass itself, either use cotton gloves, or grab by the prongs/metal parts... Nokya bulbs are really good as well... but bottom line is personal preferance

I've never touched the physical glass bulb at all. I really like these bulbs a lot and they are better then the Silverstar's IMO. Is there any way to check if its a current issue or would it most likely be just a "cheap" bulb.

Thanks!

What type of silverstars fit in the fog lights? I don't see an H11 silverstar bulb anywhere....

if thats the case, I would definitly attribute the problem to cheap bulbs... what kind of bulbs are they? are you buying them from the same place each time? it's a long shot, but the place you buy them from you have gotten a bad batch... I would have said something to the place on my 3 set if not my second in only 2 weeks time though 2-3 pairs of bulbs... the wire harness could still be the problem too... good luck

Again I have had the same experience with PIAA, they don't lasst period, and to be honest for a regular bulb the Silverstars are just as good and half the price

These bulbs are made by Redline (Automotive?). I just threw in another pair today to give it a last try, Im using these until my bonus comes in so I can grab an HID kit (2 more weeks to be exact). I have been buying them from the same place, but honestly for $10CDN a pair they aren't expensive and the place has a 100% satisfaction guarantee meaning I can bring the bulbs back even if they burn out a year from now.

As far as HID goes Im looking to go as OEM as possible and I want to use D2R bulbs not D2S since Im not retrofitting till next year. Any suggestions where I can grab what I need? Im looking around 5000k-6000k temp not 4100k-4300k.

Thanks guys!
