I am getting motor put together at machine shop right now.I have Ross 8:5to1 pistons, pauter rods, valves, valvesprings, jimwolf cams, new timing kit, toga hi flow oil pump.T3/T4 jim woilf ecu, cobra mafs, etc.

Can any of you Ka-t guys help me? I would like your feed back on engine preps , and things to tell my machinist to look for or do now while assembly. He knows motor machining ,but has only built a few supra motors and few 4g63 mitsubishi motors .There is no one here locally that knows anything about turboed imports. And I picked up on it on my own from help of your forums:) Any valid thoughts and info , feedback from you guys that have had to build your motors up . I thank you for your time. your thoughts might help me achieve a better motor.:ylsuper

It would be a wise idea to have the block o-ringed.

Off-Topic but Checkered, in your car part......."modded" is spelled "moded"......spelling man, spelling.

To the thread started: Good luck on the engine, O-ring it!

unless you plan on putting down some very serious power, o-ringing the block is not necessary.

To a degree, a motor is a motor, if your machinist has built a 4g63 etc. then he should have no problem. I also don't see a point o-ringing either. My only advice is that if your curious about something, ask your machinist...he should be more than willing to answer any questions you have and tell you his reasons for doing things.

Edit: forgot to mention, one thing that I did do was give my machine shop a printout of the engine mechanical section of a shop manual. That way, if they had ANY questions about a torque spec etc. all they had to do was look.

Really when youre building an engine, there are TONS of little things that you can do that people say increase peformance or reliability: o-ringing the block, knife edging the crank, porting and polishing valve openings, titanium this and that etc etc etc. There is a big difference between a procedure that will make the difference between reliability and a shoddy rebuild job, and an extra cost option that really wont get you anything noticably worthwhile.

What you really should do is call around to a lot of machine shops and let them talk to you (and beleive me, they WILL)... As long as you dont pretend that you know more than you actually do -- which seems to be the one thing that really irks machine shop people -- you're going to get a pretty straightforward opinion on what is necessary for you in the REAL WORLD.
