alright so i got my motor built and made sure i had no leaks or loose clamps everywhere and i didnt. the car ran fine for a couple of days til one day i drove the car and then shut off my engine and then i try to start her back up but then it wouldnt start. i tried to start her up but then it just turns over and would not start. i then let the car cool down for about 1 hour and then it started right up. remember the car runs fine and doesnt give me any problem besides that. about a week later i got pissed off and switch the cheap spark plugs i had on the motor (autolite) out with my NGK's and it seem like it ran better and had better spark. drove it around til it got fully warm up and shut it off and turn it back on again and it start right up.

now just when i thought everything was ok it did it again yesterday.this problem usually happen on a hott day but then if its was kinda cold it would start right up fine.

whats wrong Nico? why is it not starting up when its hott?

remember that i have driven the car for about 1,300 miles now and it did it to me 3 times on the autolite spark plugs and once on the NGK's.

one my of buddies told me it gotta be my ignition coil or my distrubitor but then he is sure its my coil.

if its my coil i am going to upgrade to MSD but then dont know which is the best.

by the way i will be boosting again asoon as i find a nice t3 turbo

HELP! ME!

Thanks!

Do the s13's have the separate Air intake Temp Sensor like the Early S14's Do (1995)? I had a problem with mine when my car was bone stock, it had come loose and was hanging in the engine bay. it would make the car sputter and very hard to start afte r it got a bit hot. Dont know if that helps but maybe check that out?

Like all other repairs, you have to methodically eliminate each possibility. Being an intermittent problem though, I'd suspect wiring first. Since you rebuilt your motor, you likely had to unplug a lot of stuff. Check connectors to make sure they are all snapped in well and that wiring appears to be in good shape. Keep in mind that I ran into a short and a broken wire in 2 different 240's. Both were located in unexposed wiring so this can be a real pain to find. Check for codes to see if it might give you some clue as to where to start.

Outside of that, I'd work through the troubleshooting procedures in the FSM. Perhaps try to recreate the problem before you do.

It can look fine visually. One problem I had before was that a wire broke inside the insulation. It was easy to overlook. I knew it had to do with the coolant temp sensor as the code would come up, but it was intermittent. I finally ended up catching a break when I pushed on the wiring harness in a certain spot which caused the engine to stumble. It was very repeatable so I took apart the harness there and found the corresponding wire. I quickly noticed the wire lookied kinked. I cut the insulation with a blade and as soon as I cut the insulation, it basically came competely apart as the actual wires were already broken completely. Keep in mind I had actually taken apart the wires once before from the sensor to the firewall and missed the kink completely. Something like this can be easily missed the first few times around. Electrical problems can be the most problematic. I'm dealing with a simlar issue with my mom's Sentra as well. I'd almost prefer the engine blow as it would be easier to figure out the problem and the subsequent fix.
