So anyone out there spent the 6 - 8 hundred dollars on a built in radar Detector?? I'm about to pick up my bran new G and am seriously considering installing a built in passport, mostly to not f*** up the beautiful interior look infiniti has achieved with some red lights hanging in the middle of my windshield.

Was wondering if anyone has experience with these and if so are they worth the extra money they cost?? Any recommended brands??

Thanks

Lots of guys here have them..I'm no expert on them but I think I've seen guys talk about one called Valentine (sp?) as a preference..

Valentine is the best. That thing has paid for itself a million times over. Gives you plenty of warning. You can buy a concealed head unit that keeps the lights out of the dash.

Regarding the built-ins. I think they are a waste of money looked at them but ultimately went with the Valentine 1.

I bought an Escort Passport. I love it. I put my buddy's Valentine in the car, next to the Escort. They both work almost identically, except the Valentine has the arrows. As far as distance, multiple bogies, display, they work the same. I still wish I'd have gotten the Valentine, just for the arrows. But the blue of the Escort is cool too...

The valintine is the best! Has saved my *** for 8 years with 0 tickets!!

I installed mine between the rear view mirror and roof and it fits perfectly. Hardwired it in so no wires hanging and installed the remote display in the gauge cluster. Works perfct and you dont even notice it in the car if you didnt know what to look for...ie thieves!!

I just got a beltronics 965 detector and I'm satisfied with it so far. Have had some warnings so I know it works. don't know how it compares though. It does have a rear detector as well. They also recommend that you don't put the detector high up in the car because it is harder to detect Laser signals which is a narrower band. Anyone else have an opinion on beltronics? it only cost me $250.
