I never usually open the moon roof. When I purchased the Rogue it had the moonroof and I really wanted the indigo blue. Anyways, while cleaning the weather seals I notice these funky looking mini pop-up deflectors rise up to break-up the airstream over the roof. Best to describe is picture teeth and every other tooth making a gap in between. Hmmmmm, is that a better design than the usual plastic attachment?

I remember my 1990 maxima had built in deflectors and I use to play with it by pulling it up and down while I was bored when the sunroof was open( but it was not a funky design like the Rogue). It was quieter when up. I never ended up buying a deflector for my Maxima.

My comment is, that the built-in deflector really serves a purpose and is not really redundant. Because I feel buying an external visor is for decoration purposes. I'm not saying it does not reduce noise further ( also bought for people who want more wind deflection), But that the built-in deflector does indeed reduce noise too. It has too or why design it into the Rogue. :woot: :lolling:

How could it be redundant unless you install the add-on deflector? Was the word you were looking for something like "useless"? The pop up deflector does deflect but IMO the optional deflector does a better job. I've seen complaints that it covers too much of the opening though it is transparent.

We have the optional deflector but it's a bit pointless now. Our Yakima Loadwarrior's deflector directs quite a bit of air down through the moonroof. Still, we've left the optional deflector in place for the time being.

Ouch, my brain is hurting and I had to really think on this one. Perhaps we are on the same page. Who the heck knows. I meant redundant as in superfluous: not or no longer needed or wanted and you suggested I might be looking for the word "useless". When people don't need something would that make that thing useless? (as in useless to you) I'm back in English class and the ole noggin is hurting folks. :lolling:

I guess what I'm trying to say that people purchase moonroof deflectors as if there is nothing in existence on the Rogue that deflects air. If you don't admonish the contraption popping up or don't really think of it; and the only time people think of sunroof wind deflection is when they see a purchased external wind deflector attached on top of the roof; can that be interpreted as saying that the built-in one is no longer wanted or needed ( or useless if you like),

AND not wanting or needing to know what it does (or caring); which brings me to my point that a bare roof with no wind deflection unless there is an external deflector attached seems to be the only accepted true moonroof wind deflection in the mind of the majority.

And not seeing that attachment means to most, no real wind deflection. (built-in or not) Do I know what I am talking about at the moment? Hell no! But I think people might see where I'm coming from. Yes I am bored, and this is the result.
Okay this was a Seinfield moment post. :weak:
