Hey guys! Been a while since I've been here.

My buddy just picked up a '91 240SX Hatch. Good all around car with great body. Needs some spoiler work but nothing major.

Anyway, the car doesn't land in his driveway for another 3 days and we are already cooking up performance recipes.

I just happend to have a KA24 head laying around in my auto shop and so we are making use of it.

The head came off a 2.4L from a Stanza but I hope it is the same as the 240sx head? 12valve single cam on this one.

Today we removed all the valves and cleaned it up really well. Tomorrow I'm gonna start the porting and polishing. When thats done it will get treated to a 5-angle valve job.

My question is where do I go from there? I want to replace the valve seals and put some strong springs in that puppy, but what should I get? Does anybody sell a valve set or a hardware set for this head? Should I go with factory valves? He is on a budget.

Camshaft ideas are open as well... (keep in mind it will be used primarily as a street car with the occasional friday night race. it will soon see highway miles when we head off to college next year.) The head was barren of the exhaust side valves and hardware, cam, cam caps, and rockers. The caps and rockers will need to be swapped from his current head.

When we do the head swap we will also replace the head gasket and the rest of the gaskets as preventive maintenance. The car has 100k miles on it and he doesn't want it to have problems when we are off at school. Luckily it has been well maintained and has had all major repairs done already (i.e.: new clutch, front suspension rebuild, etc.)

RECIPE planned so far:

-Ported & Polished head with upgraded hardware-APEXi N1 dual catback-AEM (or similar) CAI-Lightweight main pulley-Viscous LSD from a '95 Q45 or similar-300ZX brakes-Better MAF?-Stereo of course, gotta drop in the /////ALPINE from the Accord he used to drive

Its late, im tired.

Later guys

Don't put any money in the Stanza head yet. Your 91 should come with the DOHC head and they are not interchangeable.

Besides, the Stanza head and the 89-90 SOHC KA24E heads are not interchangeable. The cooling passages are different.

oooh that sucks. well i guess all that work was for nothing!!

man i'm pissed. well at least i was able to practice some headwork. now we can't do the head because we would have to go out of the way to buy an old one and mod it which is more work than he wants to get in to right now.

well the rest of the work will be done and we'll see how that goes. I'm real tempted to buy a 240SX myself now, but I'll wait and see how I like working on his first.
