recently i bought an s13 with an sr20det swap. it was running great for about 3 months then it started to make a knocking noise coming from the head.upon removal of the intake mani we discovered a screw in the manifold. screw looked as if it had been through a grinder. when we removed the head we saw the damage. the valves had gashes and so did the pistons. what im thinking is that the previouse owner accidently droppped a screww through the spark plug hole. so yeah im screwed i thought. but then again this might be an excellent chance to upgrade my internals.im kinda aiming to run about 13-14 psi and already have 480cc injectors, welbro fuel pump. and all the bolt on goodies.does any one have any good advice on what to upgrade (internally)? i have about a 2500 budget and will also be using the car as a daily driver. a good setup for the head (cams, springs, lifters, etc?) and a good block setup. (pistons Rods, etc) so nothing to extreme. something reliable but yet a beast when you let the boost loose. so yeah thanks any help will be gladly aprecciated. ive been looking at some tomei pistons i saw online for 400bucks. and a Brian Crower head package at enjuku for about $700

since your boosting and no one has chimed in...i highly recomend a little shop work....its called a "meatal (O) rings for the cylinders and a reciever groove for the head to match the (O) rings...with this set up..you can run a full solid copper head gasket...the benifits of this for a boosted vehicle are..

#1.) next to impossible to blow out..

#2.) can withstand upto 7000 horsepower (Proven)

#3.) they are Re-Usable!

this work with some internals..i would allso sugest supertech pistons..(rated) for 45 psi...this will set ya on the path to a high boost high horsepower monster..good luck

well have you made your decision yet?. am suprised that, that motor ran that long with out blowing a hole in the piston. 2500 is a doable budget. start with what you already have..fuel pump, turbo you can run that at 12psi safe. inter cooler fmic. down pipe, exhaust, radiator, fans, need/want..480cc+-$350, cometic HG +-90, bottom end +-$750,chain +-200, seal kit +-140 head job BC's are nice. springs and retainer 250 valve BC's 300, ECU? STANDALONE WILL BLOW YOUR BUDGET. chiped. 450. LOL I DON'T KNOW THIS WILL BE HARD. lol it don't have to be all that you can just r/r the bottom end and head and boost your stock turbo to 12 psi you can stay well within you budget. good luck.
