building KAs for boost?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Actually I am building a CA but I am using a DE block with an inferior oiling system, no piston oilers or dedicated oil supply for the turbo. The DET is easy, this will require some careful choices. I assume the KAs are equally lacking in some of the built in advantages the SRs and turbo CAs and require the same attention to details and careful prep to handle turbo duty and I was hoping I might use any tricks you guys might have learned in boosting the KA on my CA.

How much is to much on your stock pistons?Where are you pulling oil from for your turbo? What static compression ratios are best for the KA?

How much is to much on your stock pistons?I would say around 300HP, maybe a little more.

Where are you pulling oil from for your turbo?I think everyone pulls it right after the sending unit

What static compression ratios are best for the KA?Either stock compression or 8.5:1( I think thats right, I cant remember)

right about what I was expecting for the CA18DE on all counts. Does the KA have piston oilers?

I don't think it does...^

You can build a CA to 400 HP with a good fuel system and the BPU's. There are quite a few over here. I can't remember for sure but I think the turbo CA sports 8.5/1 CR. So it's happy boosting high numbers with a good supply of petro.

Actually, I believe the KA does have oil squirters for the pistons.

Perhaps the KA24DE does and the KA24E doesn't. I'm uncertain...any clarification please.

that's what worries me, my DE doesn't. I might just throw it together and see if it blows. I am real careful about air/fuel ratios and timing, hell my Q is runnin 370cc squirters out of a turbo!

Maybe they somehow managed to use a KA24E block? OR perhaps only 240sx KA24DE's have em (are you using a pathfinder, frontier, truck, altima etc... KA24DE). When I say they, I am just assuming you bought the engine or the car second hand. I'm still not quite sure of your situation. After reading the first post I thought you were somehow using the CA18DE head on the KA24DE block which would kick some major *** if it's doable. Imagine SR20VE head with KA24DE block... hehehe have your torque down low and your HP up high : )

i remember in the old NICO forums some guy was building up his S14 KA24DE and he showed pictures of the oil squirters. Maybe the S14 was the only KA24DE with them, I don't know.

No building a CA but not the better turbo block. I just figured KA guys have to work harder than other Nissan engines to keep it together so I wanted to pick up any tricks learned the hard way.
