Man, I hate seeing newbs post stuff like "so, like I bought a 240sx, and I was wondering if I should go I/H/E, or get that cool body kit I saw in Import tuner."

But unlike most of these kids Im quite a bit more serios about this, and Im in the process of selling one of my cars to fund the sr20, and the build.

My problem is I really dont know much about internal stuff, building a motor, and everything else. I plan to have a second car for when the motor goes in, but I do want the car streetable, and Im not trying to poor too much money into it. I think that 300hp would be almost too much for me (I know, I say this now but..) and I know I can do this by slapping on bolt ons and running 20lbs of boost, however I dont want to go this route. So what are my options?

the stock internals of the SR are well capable of handling far over 300hp.

I would say the SR with an FMIC, downpipe and catback should set you around the 240hp range... you might want to try that for a start and see how you like that power range.

You can safely run it at 8 psi and have a nice little jolt at the wheels

yah, I was talking with a freind on aim, Im thinking I might keep stock internals, but still if people could offer possilbe things to do and stuff, it would be cool.

a stock SR with a 3" turbo back exhaust running at stock boost should make around 175 at the wheels. Upping the boost to about 12 or so should net you around 195 RWHP.

There's no reason to rebuild the internals of an SR unless you're looking at something over 400 WHP. Enjuku has a project car running on stock internals and has hit 400-450 I think. You're money will be better spent going towards a new turbo to replace the T-2small.

I did toy with the idea of upping the CR a bit. Like to 8.8:1 or even 9:1 to regain a bit of low end, but I realized how detrimental that becomes in the top end because you can't run the turbo at a higher boost without worry of breaking something. My advice is to leave the internals alone for now and focus on a good turbo and cam match.

You may also want to put that money for the internals towards getting that rear bumper of yours fixed up :)
