I'm planning on building up an rb26 with a gt30 or 35. Making it rwd. Probably aem stand alone ecu. My question is what sensors, and other odds and ends, that come on a stock rb26, can I take off or leave out still letting the motor run.

Obviously the crank semsor but lime do I need to keep oil sensors and random sensors that one will find on the engine. I know that certian sensors, if they are bad the engine won't run.

I will have an array of defi gagues to Check up on the engine but ya.

Any know how and experience will help.

aem dosent eliminate any sensors it plug into the factory harness and i thinkm it has a option to eliminate the factory twin mafs.

sounds like you need to do allot more research before of even thinking about doing this swap...

whats your reason of wanting to spend that much on a aem ems for a factory stock swap? no need

No no. Full rb build. Stroker kit and all. I was only using aem standalone as a reference. I can use anything. I was planning to wire the entire car so I can only have the essintails that are absolutly needed. Hence the question

Why spend so much money on a stroker kit if you are only going with a 30r or 35r? A freshened up stock rb26 will more then easily handle what a 30r could throw at it.

Also you need just about everything on the motor with the exception of IACV.

Also i would recommend just getting the stock swap running first before spending a lot of money on mods, some people have a hard enough time getting the stock swap running properly as it is. AEM EMS is not fresh start friendly from what ive heard.

Well I'm only in the planning stages so nothing is a perment idea yet. How much can a built rb take? 45r with 30psi?? Idk just throwing out random numbers. A guy o was talking to used a vipec ecu for his and it works great so thy may be a poasibilty

serious question, have you ever done a complex build before...from the sounds of it you havent.you may want to seriously sit down and outline what you want to do with it and see if you have the time/money/resources/knowledge to do it...you're talking about some seriously expensive kit here not the kind of stuff to just toss around.a stroker kit is AT LEAST 3500-5000 on its own and that is not including the base engine.

all of the sensors on the engine are needed, you can probably remove the idle control valve and the cold start valve but other than that all sensors are required.vi-pec is a MAP based system so the maf wiring could be removed if you wanted to.

What you hear/read......isnt always true

I had no problems starting up. Most people that have problems, tend to over complicate things, and add in too many variables. I started my swap up with stock injectors, and the AEM provided base map for speed density (a MAP and MAF base map are included) and it worked just fine. After I verified it would run, and drive......I then switched in my big injectors. I used the AEM fuel injector scalar and that worked quite well also.

If anything it will be easier. You'll be able to see if you have a properly functioning sensors.
