We're in the process of building an intake manifold for my VH45de and I'm planning out how the intake manifold will be designed. I came across pics of this car that is supposed to have a VH45de in it, but look at the way the lower plenum runners (they look stock) come up straight into the plenums.

Is that the VK lower plenum and fuel rails? Or is the motor possibly a VK alltogether?

This is a VK and the plenum runners/fuel rail look the same way.

Is there any way those lower runners bolt up to the VH?

The pic looks like a VK, especially the CVTC assemblies on the intake cams: The VH45DE has a black plastic cover to go over those, not aluminum as shown. In fact I think I have even seen pictures of that exact swapper before. I'm pretty sure no major VK parts are "bolt-on" to the VH, although the blocks are said to have the same bore, stroke, and bore-spacing, much has changed in the almost 13 years between the release of both engine series.

I would like to see pics of the progress on your swap though, so keep us updated.

Sorry the first post I made, your first pic was not showing up. So I meant that your second one looks like a VK. THIS one (above) is definitely a VH. This is the one in Japan someone swapped into a240 z right? work of art. Here are more form that car. I can't find the original owner's url anymore but google turned up some quick pics.

That's definately the same car. The builder has been involved in several amazing build projects... insane welding skills with a lot of "jdm" pie cuts etc.

I appreciate the info, I think I'm going to attempt to build two individual plenums similar to his setup, but as I look closer I believe he may simply be using the lower runners from the VH as they look slightly offset.

I don't really find it neccessary to make aftermarket fuel rails, so maybe thats the way to go... in that case I have bunch of Tomei/Nismo 740cc injectors that would drop in if I used the Deatshwerks phase2 injector upgrade kit.

Speaking of Komiya-san's Z... I don't think I ever posted these here...I scanned these from the Dec '05 issue of Cal magazine.. it's a feature on his car with some more close-up pics of the mechanicals. The lower runners are stock, with sheetmetal plenums. Notice in Japan they tend to avoid using the big square (or as I call them, mailbox) or plain cylindrical plenums. They actually used formed ones that actually look good and flow... form AND function.

one ton garage--THANK YOU for scanning and posting that! Do you have any more info on the car than what's on zparts.com?
