One thing I was going to say, this enclosure would be kick butt in a car as well. IF you had the space.

Yeah, I have a station wagon, and a spare two channel amp(~200 rms bridged)

LOL

299 watts gets alot of output from this thing.

Note: I had a long response, but something got screwed up.

Basically, i'll use OC 703(rigid Fiberglass) and cut it a little long and glue it to the walls.

That has more internal bracing than my Infinity SW-12, though you are using a 15 and only used 3/4" walls. Curious, did you double up the front panel since you didn't buy any 1.5"

If this has already been mentioned later in this thread, I forgot and didn't go through and re-read all the posts again. I jsut picked up from where I last posted.

NOpe. I put bracing on the back of it though. a full sheet of 3/4" would have taken up way too much air volume.

NOte: I've never had a problem with putting a driver on a single thickness of 3/4" mdf.

Yo PMQ I am glad to see you are still at it and getting better with it. What do you have in the Q?

nothing but a pair of 6x9s in the front and the rear. Yes I said in the front also.

I don't drive the Q though. I'm thinking of selling it.

Cool idea on the 6x9 in the front. I hope they are not 3 ways though. You selling the Q come on. As long as you have had it now.

Ok, so how's everything performing? Also where are the pictures of the finished product in the room!?

The product isn't finished, but it's running

It's currently sitting upside-down with the driver facing up.

I have to seal the bottom mdf which will be exposed with no cover.

I just haven't had any time. But hey, it's up and running and it's awesome.

Exceeds expectations. It's amazing how quiet 110dB and 20hz really is

Have you measured it with the Radio Shack SPL meter? Maybe you're not getting 110db?

Alright, where are the pics!? I am wanting some inspiration here as I have everything I need to build mine, except the MDF.

I have an old JBL GT 12" sitting around NIB I bought a while back. I am going to use that driver and bought a 300w BASH amp from Partsexpress. (they're having a 20% off sale this weekend).

Last I checked the T/S parameters (long hand using pen and paper because this was 6-7 yrs ago and I didn't have any box software), the box is supposed to be around 3ft^3 and tuned for 27hz IIRC. Not too good for HT use, however I am just using this for practice and will give it to my sister for christmas.

I'll probably go with a Cherry veneer.

Why not make a sealed box or a bypass? I had to go buy a box for my 2 15" adiobauhn Imortal subs because everyone i made would break but im not as crafty as you lol. Looks good

For me, I am going ported because they will typically play deeper flatter. Sealed drops off sooner, but slower, and bandpass (4th or 6th order) is usually never a good thing in HT; However exceptions can be made.

looney: Here's a sub you should use:http://www.mach5audio.com/prod...d7eb9

I believe they have a 4 ohm version. You can email them for details.

Buy four of those. Stick them in a ~10ft^3 sealed enclosure. Then get the behringer Europower 2500 amp and the feedback destroyer(use it to EQ).

This combo will yield ~120dB for 15hz through 80hz.

The reason for such a powerful amp is that you'd have to EQ the hell out of the low end to get around the natural 6dB per octave slope on the low end.

I still haven't gotten the legs on it yet. LOL.

I'm considering building the same thing I just recommended to you

Well first thing I am going to do is build this small'ish 12 just to do it. After that I may lower my standards and get 2, 15" titanics. That will cost 400 bucks and the Alliance 18 http://www.ascendantaudio.com/allliance_page.html I have been wanting will cost 400 by itself. Who know's though. I have plenty of time to decide.

As for the amp Behringer is good and the euro2500 is NICE for the price, but my biggest turn off towards it, is that it is fan cooled which will add ambient noise in my room. The Crown K2 is more expensive, has a higher damping factor (3000+) and is convection cooled...again, I still have time to decide though. I have yet to even start my first project.

There is a mod for the fan right now. Change it out for one with a different blade pitch and quieter bearings.

Don't worry too much about the dampning factor. Remember that depending on the length of the speaker wire, that can have a greater effect on the dampning factor then the amp itself!
