this is my first forum here on nico. i recently owned a beautiful 1987 300zx non-turbo until an old lady totaled me. i fell in love with the thing but now i want a newer generation 300. i want to either buy a twin-turbo in good condition or buy a non-turbo, build up the engine and put a single turbo kit in it. what would be the smarter thing to do???

First off welcome to NICO!

As for the Z32, this question gets asked a TON. Buy a twin turbo. The NA would cost a boatload of money to make fast and you can't just slap turbos on it. Also there is no single turbo kit or anything like that for it.

Buy a TT and be happy with it

yeah I was leaning towards the twin turbo because i also didn't want to hasle with pulling the engine if i did put together my own make-shift turbo kit. plus anything that i would put together would probably boost leak like crazy. so thanks for your thoughtful input. another question is, i want to make it a very quick car but i dont want to go drag king nutz on it so how much would building up the engine, putting in headers, upgraded cold-air, exhaust, higher flow injectors and leaving in the stock turbos do for the car. i havent found much info on the qaulity of the stock turbos so should i be fine with them or should i switch them out too??? i thank you for any help you can give.

tes, if you want the TT just spend a bit more now and get what you really wantintake, exhaust, remapped ECU and boost jets or a boost controller get you to about 330whp, upsize the injectors 9gotta have the ecu mapped for them) and the stock turbo's max out right about 400whp (usually just short of 400 but close enough) fatty turbo's and the sky is the limit

another question is, iv'e heard from several sources that the handling in the cars are pretty good and if you put after market strut bars in hatchbacks such as the 300, it makes a world of a difference. is this true, and should i *** strut bars to the to-do list. thanks for your help guys. looks like tt is winning with a overwhelming majority so far.

strut bars make minute differences, in a race car it can be the needed improvement but the honda boys decided the looked cool so not every grocery getter has one, if you into racing and want to eliminate as much flex as possible they can made a very small improvement, if however you are street only then it's just eye candy for riceboys

As evildky said, strut bars don't make a huge difference on a Z32 but they are noticable. The biggest suspension difference you can make on a Z32 is a good set of aftermarket sway bars. The suspension tech sway bars that I put on my TT are the best dollar for dollar modification I've ever done to the car. Night and day difference.
