Well I am still waiting on my lovefab manifold, and wrapping up alot of other crap.. I'm disappointed in the aem supplied ecu pins, a few popped out when i tightened the stock ecu on.

Naturally I have some questions because this is my first rb swap..

1. Anyways, I used the KA trans harness as recommended on my 96 s14 (USED TO BE AUTO), and only the speed sensor plugged in.. What are these two plugs to the left of the speed sensor on the RB trans for?? Must I hardwire my reverse switch to the chassis harness?? What about 5th gear sensor?

The only other plug I have left on the KA trans harness is this and it doesn't match any of them:

2. I got this PCV from autozone and you can blow through either way, it does have a check valve, but i dont know if its leaking or what... I am running an oil catch can that is vented to atm, can i just block the pcv valve off?

3. I didn't need to wire the tps switch on the q45 TB right? just the three wire tps plug.

4. Does anyone know of any slim high power rad. fans that don't cost an arm and a leg? ??

Car is comin together slowly but surely...

1) Those are the neutral position switch and reverse switch for the reverse lights. The neutral position switch gets wired to the pin on the ECU plug and the reverse lights get wired into the S14 harness most easily at the engine bay fuse box area.

2) I had extra stuff on my KA lower harness too, but after it was all said and done, I wish I would have just cut the plugs off and wired everything separately to where it needed to be.

3) Yes, you can plug the PCV if running a catch can venting to atm.

4) Just plug the oval shaped plug into the RB25 harness and go.

5) Fans depend on if you want pullers or pushers. Pushers=SPAL+Quest alternator upgrade. Pullers=Flex-A-Lite. Cooling is not the place to skimp so get that out of your head now or you'll kick yourself later.

I will e-mail you tomorrow and give you a call. No need for payment, everyone needs guidance in the beginning and ends up helping others later on down the line.

Thanks man, good to make a friend! I feel sort of pathetic because I've had like 12 240sx's since i was in HS, swapped them all with s13 SRs, the wiring i coiuld do with my eyes closed. i guess you could say this swap is not much different, but i always forget or miss something and almost always have troubles on first start.

CC your number to [email protected] if you don't mind, that is my personal email... I don't mind paying for assistance.. Whatever can get my car done sooner. I'm sure you're a wealth of knowledge

I did mention the car doesn't even crank either right? I'm going to have to dig through the damn harness again i suppose.. If fuses are okay...

Would IGN signal wiring be the most likely cause? My ECU is from an rb25 auto too btw... I never wired the clutch neutral safety switch wire when i did the harness.. is that a problem?

By cranking do u mean the starter isnt turning or the engine isnt popping/firing? We need to verify that there is fuel and/or spark. I dont know jack about AT ecus but I would assume it would at least start and idle a M/T engine. Pull the coils and plugs and rest the plugs on the valve covers. Watch while someone else turns the key over. If sparks, then dfinitely a fuel issue. Drunk now so cant type anymore on my phone. Catch u tomorrow!

no fuel, i dont think there is spark... car jsut clicks like there is low voltage... i need to check my battery tie in that goes to the trunk, see if connections are good... so it doesnt matter that the ecu isnt wired to the Neutral safety switch?

unfortunately alot of the harness wires didnt match the writeups out there, i had to basically look at fsms look at ecu plug diagram and trace back... i was very thorough...

so no crank, no fuel (pump wont power on even), and bat reads 13v. Again you said the grey oval plug on the trans harness plugs into engine harness... i dont see where..

also, are these abs plugs:

and do i need that boost solenoid thing hooked up (it came off the stock engien setup has a few vacuum hoses on it)?

The oval plug I was referring to was the TPS plug. The neutral switch does not NEED to be wired in for the car to start or drive, but I have heard it may cause issues on off-throttle idle. Hearsay though.

And the boost solenoid should be wired in and connected in with vacuum lines. Again, it should start without it, but it will only allow you to run at 5 psi of boost if you don't.

ooh that's right you're running AEM EMS. Then, no you don't need it. My bad. No nipples on the intake.

Just need one on the charge pipe for the wastegate actuator.
