Wow, I'd love a set of those rollcenter/steering quicker things!

I am fairly sure that the springs rest beside the front wheel, I will have to check. I guess I could raise the lower spring perch then get a shorter spring, that sounds like a reasonable way to gain some inner clearence. I also have an old 350z crossmember with the rack and pinion attached. I see what you're talking about with the offset tie rod. I wonder if their is an otc tie rod that would work for the 240sx? No mill or lathe for me, I think that might be something beyond the capabilities of my bandsaw/drill press/welder that carried me through the rest of my project fabrication :)

Your front springs look fairly short, are they the 6" eibach springs?
yes we used 6"/400lb eibach springs ABOVE the tire. If you had to go beside the spring it adds quite a bit more.
We built the offset tie rod end to get enough clearance at full lock on the steering, but some of that NEEDED
clearance was because our tie rod end is lowered, and that puts it closer to the wheel rim also.

the clearance here at the strut tube is only about 3/8"

whenever you have some spare time, a write-up on the 350z dash would be great. I would definitely do it. you don't see too many S-Chassis builds with one-off(and well done at that) fabrication due to the tremendous aftermarket support. makes me want to experiment.

You don't have PM enabled.
I'll check the spring perches and camber plates and get back to you

here is a picture of the top perch
it was trimmed to the diameter of the springs after this picture
Image
our top thrust bearing is inside this top collar
the offset shoulder puts the spring top pretty close to the camber plate
Image
the gap at the top here, between the top of the collar and the bottom of the camber plate
is only about 1/8 inch at the worst case scenario while going thru steering travel
the bottom of the lower perch collar is trimmed at an angle to give extra clearance also.
Image
this collar will be set to the bottom of the threads for our ride height.
when it's set this low, the tire clearance is about 3/8" beside the strut, and 1/2" at the beveled spot
on the collar

Haha, ya, SCCA in Dothan a couple of weekends ago or Moultrie last month and last weekend. If you saw me on 319, it was Moultrie, I-10 or 231, was Dothan :)
