I just went to pick up a new O2 sensor for my car at autozone and when the guy looked up my car, by the build date, he got a different part then for a '95. I have a 95 S14 240sx with a build date of 5/94 and he told me that the O2 sensor for a 95 is different then my car, what the hell is that?! the sensor cost me 31 bucks while the sensor for a 95 cost 80 bucks. Did he put the wrong sensor in? did the 95 change as they were built later? Is my car going push too much oxygen into my engine causing an explosion that will take out the entire university area? Tune in kids, same bat time, same bat channel. Ok Ok back to reality...whats up with the build date people?

OBD I cars have a single wire O2 sensor where OBDII cars will have a 3 wire O2 sensor (which costs around $80).

Mikey: My car was made in 4/94 and is OBD I (I just replaced the O2 sensor a couple months ago). Chances are, your car is OBD I as well. When I went to buy one, I went to Autozone first and they guy kept telling me that I needed the ODB II model with 3 wires and that my car wouldn't run right if I got the single wire.....He kept telling me this so I left and went to Advance Auto across the street and the guy sold me the single wire sensor for $18.

18 BUCKS! damn Autozone, oh well, btw my check engine light is on and he said most of the time thats what it is. He said the same thing happened to his Maxima and when he changed it, it took a week for it to go off. My car isn't making any noises or smells and it runs fine, could it still be something else?

You should run a diagnostic test. Either do it yourself (look in the FAQ on this forum to find out how) or just take it to autozone and have them check it. The check engine light isn't supposed to come on after you change the sensor. You didn't start the car with it unplugged did you? Are you sure that it's plugged in?

Some people have said their 95s are ODBII. I believe just some of the later ones are that way.
