i was searching for some stuff about my car today, and i came upon this old forbes.com article about new cars, written in 2001. it had a preview of the Buick Bengal, which looks remarkably like the Z8. (Isn't that a BMW badge on the front?)

i also noticed how much the lexus sc 430 looks like a slimmed down 350z.

and i'm guessing this is the concept for the Titan, although below this picture it mentions the FX45 for some reason.

the whole article is here.

A Z-8 has a long slender nose, less of a hump on the rear, and the emblem on the front in that pic is a round buick logo. I'll put a pic up soon...

yeah, i see. I knew it wasnt the Z8 because there was no BMW side vent. But do you know anything about the T prototype going on to be the FX45? The name of that picture is nissanfx45_377x275.jpg , which is weird.

Interesting that they label the picture that way...

The recent August '03 Motor Trend does a write up of the Titan v new F-150. They also say the Alpha T prototype, with box frame, and other various "truck-like" basics was the basis for the Titan.

This would be the platform for the Titan/Armada/upcoming FX56, all sharing the 5.6liter, 300+hp, 375+lb ft V-8 in various tuning.

Car&Driver Feb '03 reported that the FX45 chassis is "based on the Nissan's FM chassis, which forms the basis for the 350Z and the Infiniti G35..."

Wonder where the Murano fits in...?

The murano is just a jacked up altima. but, i was thinking, i wonder if the awd system is swapable with the altima since its the same frame.

I think Bob Lutz wants GM to keep all of its excitement products in the Cadillac and Pontiac brands, to avoid scaring the repeat-buying elderly.

Buick is forever delegated to being a geriatric mobility appliance.

LONG LIVE THE GNX!
