My oldest is a month away from having her drivers license maintaining a 4.7 GPA as a Freshman while playing BB this year. The Regal has been in the family since new and is in good mechanical shape. 151,000 miles and only repairs are the intake replaced and crank sensor. 28 mpg, 3.8, leather, power everything, the only option it didn't come with was the sunroof.

Not what most HS students want but if she makes it a year without wrecking it I'll get her a upgrade. She wants a Mustang

nice I thought GPA went to 4.0.

She should enjoy it, even if it doesn't look sleek.

Don't buy your kid a car, let them earn the money to get one themselves. Inheriting an old car is good enough.

Good point, I would not buy her something out right. I would however put a nice down payment or split payments with her. No sweat equity = no respect.

A big old buick is good for a new driver IMO... also, moving to something sporty that soon after would be a bad idea, too. (not to mention the insurance rates for something sporty, ugh)

I cannot stand that high school GPA in so ambiguous.

AP, Honors, A+, all distort the system that is supposed to be standardized.

There is a reason why there is no such thing as an A+ in universities.

Can I give her her "first ride?" Hehehehe, just kidding...

Any person who just got their license should be happy with what they get. It sucks not being mobile, especially once you have your license and all your friends have cars. I was lucky enough to get to work on my first car/learn/etc.... but driving is the real experience. It's FREEDOM.

I remember it like it was 2 years ago....Oh wait...

It's only freedom when mommy and daddy pay the insurance.

^ If you don't have any kind of income when you have your first car, you shouldn't be driving.....
