Ok. Seriously. Whats with bugs and my car?

This is the first warm season I have owned my Q...so, I don't have anything to compare against from last year. Does the Q always have every bug within 100 feet of it slam itself in to the front of the car leaving bug paste behind?

I have never owned a car that gets so caked with bugs. Is my Q just exceptionally bug hungry? Are the bugs in my neighborhood exceptionally depressed and suicidal? Is this just a bad year for bugs and they are out in much larger numbers than usual?

Also... when I am done washing my Q. Why does every bug within 100 yards of my freshly cleaned car feel the need to sit on it? Is there something about the smell of clean Q paint that is euphoric to the little things? I don't mind really...its not like they are leaving a mess or anything. But, its just sort of weird. Within a minute of my car being clean and dry the surface of my car looks like Bugville, USA.

Just some thoughts... you guys have this problem?

It's just the time of year. Lots of standing water and warm temperatures that are perfect for those kinds of flys to breed in. It'll lessen when it gets hotter and fly populations decrease.

My cat loves car-baked-bugs. I find him nibbling the things off my bumper all the time.

I had a hornet crash into my shoulder (through the open window) while driving on the freeway last week. You'd think they'd learn to avoid the big shiny fast things. I hope he enjoyed the ride he got when I flicked his abdomen out my window.

I thought the same was true for my previous dark green Q45.

Midwest summers + insects + 120mph = Stick your head out for a quick snack.

At higher speeds with the windows open and my arm out, I could feel the insects flicking by if I reached away from the rear view mirror.

I prepare my Q before every spring. I wax & polish my front bumper twice before the bugs come and then once a month after that. I try to create a slick polished surface so slick that the bugs can't stick on when they hit. It works! Also the few that do stick on wipe right off without scrubbing.I also put 2 coats of wax on my hood, roof and trunk before summer hits to protect against the UV that shreds through the clear coat.
