OK, I know the 'vert takes 4x6's in the doors, 6.5's in the rear side panels...

I have a set of adapters to fit 4" speakers in the 4x6 spots - Would this be better than 4x6's?

I'm looking at Fosgate 4's in the front (or Infinity Kappa 4x6's), and Infinity Kappa 6.5's in the rear.

I'll be running everything off the head unit (Kenwood 40w 4ch) for now, and I have a cheap Majestik amp and a 8" Bazooka...

Suggestions?

Remember - This is LOW budget. Used stuff, free stuff, ebay stuff.

Chris at UnderGround MotorSports was making adapater plates for the doors (coupes & hatches at least) that allowed you to use 6.5's, I'd see if either he would make you a pair or give you some simple instructions to follow. If not "trial 'n error" should get you there.

As for speakers, sounds like price may be your biggest driver and with that said, scour the "Open Box Buys" at Cicuit City, Best Buy & any other audio shop for some decent 2 or 3 way co-axials greatly discounted. Off the cuff, I've had my best luck Pioneer. Any component speakers (like the fosgate 4's) will require more quality power than you have. I'd try not to use the headunit power, but if you have to, maybe only use 2 door speakers at first.

Autotek makes cheap/good amps IMHO. The Bazooka will give you acceptable bass considering your space and budget.

I'll look and see if I have anything laying around other than an OLD JVC cass/HU, Kenwood CD/HU and old school Pheonix Gold MS-275 amp.

aww you don't need any of my fiberglassing knowledge lol. The kappa's work great for the price, cheapest places you'll find for them are the ebay stores. I'd definatly look into those adapter plates if underground makes them. in my opinion 4x6 are a useless speaker, you'd be better off with a 4inch round, but i'd always shoot for th 6.5's. at least you'll get alil high end bass out of them. If you know anybody that can recone and coil power acoustik subs i have 2 12'' fubr's dual 4 ohm coils and 900w rms that are just collecting dust i'd give you one or both for the hell of it if you can get them reconed and pay to ship them. they're about 20lbs each. other than that i have 95 oem nissan cdplayer.

Why don't you hit up http://www.partsexpress.com for their speaker repair kits only like $30-40.
