Hi all!!! I just started with this project ... restoration-of-the-z32-tt-in-spain-hello-t560545.html ...
Not much time neither money for it but we´ll get to finish it. Enginewise I´m looking for the 450bhp ballpark. One question is that this car is rated at 283bhp and I see some other 300zx tt´s quoted at 300bhp. Could it be that european models came with less hp than the american ones? Maybe came with smaller turbos than the american version? Anyone knows???
Here I leave some pics of what´s going on in my garage...

Welcome to NICO, and looks like you have some fun already started!
In regards to your HP rating you mentioned it seems you may have a '96 TTZ, as all other years rate at 300HP/285TQ except in '96 when they did away with the variable valve timing, and about 20HP.
Have fun with your project, and keep us posted!

So the vvt system models came with 283hp then? Looks like all 300zx tt came like this here in europe since there is none with stock 300hp. Which type turbo do they come with factory, T22´s or T25´s? Reference in one of the set that I have is Garrett TC - 401 J. 14411-40P16.
The ones that came on the car say Garrett TC 0835 J. 14411-40P11.
Here are some pics of the fun I´m having...

Ijst did a search on the web and found out that the references I posted before belong to TB-2207 an TB-2209 Garretts. Which tourbos should I be aiming at for the 450hp range? Perhaps 240sx 14a or similar? Just want a fast daily driver. Reliable and a/c working. Won´t be taking it to the track.
And this is a bonus track...

They are laying around here in the garage for the longest and thougth that while I updated to 350Z brakes, I migth as well use this ones. They fit perfectly on the break disk but the pads are a bit longer.

Find out what turbos you have on your car, you have aftermarket downpipes, very possibly previous owner already some goodies on it.

I am wondering if its from the "gentlemen agreement" japan had with their super cars, maybe flooded into europe. The agreed BHP was 283, your engine should be stock 300bhp

The clutch kinda gave it away with it being a 5 speed.

Autos have different cams and smaller housing for the turbos, 20 hp less

Well. I Believe I have garretts TB22´s on my car. The compressor housings say "M24 A/R .48. I´m going to quote something I saw at another post:
nissanfreak12 wrote:Yes, the housings on an auto are .54 and 5 speed are .63. If you have the .54 on a 5 speed they spool up quicker, less lag, but run out on top end. Its like you get the power quicker, just shifting sooner.
Does this mean that what I have is even smaller than auto version in America?
Anyways, I saw this and wanted to ask you guys for your opinion about it...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NISSAN-300zx- ... 94&vxp=mtr

I can get the compressor wheels of that size and have the housings machined to accept them. They claim this mod to yield 555hp so it would be enough for the 450 mark that I´m looking for,
Any opinions on this?

Don't look purely at HP numbers for turbo selection. You need to figure out 3 things for turbo selection, first HP which for you is 450hp. Next RPM range, and third racing style. As for your racing style I would select autocross since you are mainly using it as a daily driver. RPM range would most likely stay around stock since again daily driver. Then you calculate the numbers to come up with an efficiency range. From there you would look at the turbo compressor maps and choose your turbo that way. A good app to use is Boost Adviser by Garrett. Don't forget your going to need a tuned ECU also.

HP numbers are to more or less get an idea of turbo capabilities. By keeping the turbine the same size I´m thinking the turbos are going to kick in at same rpm´s as factory intended. The mod is purely upgrading the compressor wheel in size. Just thougth someone may have done this done before and could share some experiences. I will look for the maps for this combo and see if they would do the job for me.

Not me personally but I do know of a few people that have done it and had good results.

Also that article can be found here on Nico as well as many other great write-ups written by the same person.

Bigger compressor wheel in the stock turbo will give you a bit more horsepower but it makes the turbos extremely inefficient, and for the amount you are going to spend on the upgrade you are better off staying with stockers or spending a bit more and getting true t25 or t28 turbos.

After considering the same, I chose to buy s13 t25's. I already have one (A/R .80). Searching for another one
