Hi,
I need to replace the rear rotors on my 2006 M35x (I purchased some Akebono pads now I need the rotors)and I don't want to spend high performance money because I rarely drive that way. Really I just want a set of rotors that don't warp as easy as the OEM and cost around $50-60 a rotor. I've been reading a lot of opinions, etc on the net and here about brake rotors for m35's and I see a lot of talk about ebay's brakemotive being the best for that money. However, I've seen some other brands that are good quality that make a less expensive model that works on the m35. Can I please get some feedback of the best option when comparing the following options?

1. ebay BrakeMotive
2. Brembo Replacement Rotor $50 each http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.j ... toModClar=

3. Centric Plain 120 Series $47 http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brakes.j ... toModClar=
4. OEM ? (I think the above are still better than $65 OEM)

Thank you,

I would get the Brokemotive ones, but you should just go with the full kit from them. It is like $200 for all four rotors and ceramic pads all the way around. You can find them on Ebay.

Thanks for the reply Engima,

I like your point about doing all 4 rotors and pads for $200. This makes sense, not too mention I can still return my Akebono pads.

I take it this is the full kit you're talking about?

The last time I changed rotors, I used (and still like) the blank Centric pads form Tire Rack ... have written about them before here. :yesnod

For me, the OEM Infiniti pads have always felt like the best combination of wear, sound and stopping power. So, I tend to stick with those.

YMMV, of course. :)

Yes that looks like the same kit myself and 20+ other members here got. We all love them and I think everyone agrees it is the best stopping performance for under $200 that you can get. Personally, buying just new pads can run about $200 if you get some pretty decent ones and then it takes all the time (and sometimes money too) to get the rotors turned too, so what I have started doing is when it is time to do the brakes again is just buy a whole new kit and get new rotors and pads with every pad change. It saves a lot of time over driving somewhere to get the rotors done and costs the same as if I just went with pads. If you really feel like it you can even sell the old rotors for a few bucks too. But it isnt like these kits wear out fast so dont get the wrong idea. I think I am on my current set now for almost 2 years, and I still have another 6-12 months before I will need buy another kit.

The most important part to me was how much better these were at not warping over the OEM rotors. I drive hard quite often and warped the OEM setup in 2 days. These rotors took me 2-3 weeks before I warped them a bit. So big improvement :) lol The kit also has a bit better stopping power than the OEM setup, and doesnt get rust as bad a the OEM ones. To my knowledge, no one else here has warped their's though.

Quick Update: It's been about 3 months on my Brakemotive pads and rotors and so far so good. I think I paid $275 out the door and I am getting everything I needed out of them. Only a few times in the morning have I heard a little sqeeking sound, but imagine that's just a little condensation on the rotors and it goes away quickly. Bottom line - I recommend them. :bigthumb:
