I was intrigued into asking this question for quite some time and I finally got off of my lazy but and got to the computer. So here it is guys.

"What budget clutch does best?"

When I say budget clutch, I mean the clutches that are listed in the notorious "EBAY.COM," Brands like F1, XTD, and XTR. I know many of us know the motto "You get what you pay for." Although it is really catchy and in most cases very true, what we have in our wallets, most of the time, keeps us from paying out much at all. I know first hand since I'm a college student with this fatal attraction to drifting and auto-x.

What I want to know and find out is; 1) What Brand does best? 2) Which Brand advertises the best bargain? 3) Your personal experiences. 4) How long did your "Budget Clutches" last?

Any input would be great. I'm just asking this question so we all could fill in that "grey matter" area with some knowledge.

My experience is with the F1 Stage 1 clutch kit. After the install and the break in period the clutch had a very stock-ish feel during daily driving. However when I started getting on in and getting into my habits of rainy day drifting and occasional peel-outs. It felt as if the clutch would fade almost instantly. I was never able to peel out in dry days which I usually did on the stock clutch and I was reduced to driving regularly all the time. I installed the clutch myself and I'm positive everything was done and torqued down correctly. It was only about 6 months after when the clutch got completely soft on me and I had to put my car back on jacks. The whole kit was around $300 something dollars and it came with the light weight flywheel. I was also wondering if that flywheel could be re-surfaced or not.

i was just in your situation cause my stock clutch almost completley crapped out on me. I ended up getting an exedy clutch kit for $115, but it was a tough decision between that and the XTD stage 2 clutch

if i had to get an ebay clutch i would go with XTD. I looked up on google and other forums, and out of the reviews for ebay clutches, i heard mostly good stuff about XTD.

Mostly what i heard, was it grabbed real nice, just the pedal didnt have the most pleasant feeling to it.

the other ebay clutches, ive heard even if properly broken in would start to slip on them after a couple of months

a clutch is never anything you should cheap out on

wait an extra couple months and get a REAL clutch.

drifting will eat clutches alive.

Get a SPRUNG hub puck clutch with kevlar and avoid full organic.

If its a sprung hub it will still have daily driving forgivability. you think a puck clutch would have less clamping force but its all in the material..a puck clutch also has better cooling to prevent the clutch from over heating as much, and the good thing about kevlar is you Can overheat it from heavy use..and it will still return to normal operating behavior without glazing over.
