im bored and had an idea running around for a frankenstein motor.

97 ka-de, block and head, low miles. early 89 ka sohc pistons91 ka-de camss13 intake manifold and injen intakeheader and full exhaust.

port and polish the head, put a fresh hone on the cylinders, slap it together with new bearings and timing chain, and drop it in my 89 beater.

anybody have any similiar setups?

i know there are probably better and more powerful opitions, but i have most of this crap laying around and id like a tad more umph in my daily drivers, but not the kind that comes from a bottle or a hair dryer.

thanks, mike

if you're replacing the cams and the intake manifold, you may as well just buy the s13 engine in the first place. Generally, you want the s13 cams (any s13 except the very final production run had the good cams) with the s14 intake manifold.

but my point is that there's no reason to use the s13 manifold.

They are almost identical, except for the intake butterflies in the S13 manifolds.

If you remove the 4 little plates in each runner, all that's left is a 1/8" round rod that goes through all 4 runners...not much of a restriction.

There's really no power advantage with an S14 mani versus an S13 mani with the secondary butterflies removed.

oh.

i thought the s13 manifold was eaiser to use in the s13. if the s14 is that close ill use that.
