I was curious as to how well this 'Slip Fit' design actually seals. I am used to using catbacks with flanges that connect it together, i was curious as to how this works exactly and if it seals 100%

I mean Buddy club is a quality company, maybe its better than the flange design?

What is your take on it?

It works just fine, its not a complete seal but it doesn't have to be as it is far enough back in the exhaust that the minuscule amount of gas that escapes will never make it into the car. The main reason buddy club uses the slip fit is because it is lighter than a flange, and the exhaust was designed to be as light as possible.

I had an arp slipfit on my gti and it wasn't anything noticeable. And if you think about it the medal expands and contracts with heat and basically seizes together. It was a b**** to pull apart.

Makes sense. I thought about the metal expanding when it heats up as well. I just didnt know if it actually makes a 100% seal or not.

I bet with the silencer in it would probably blow through that seal because of the excessive back pressure.

I guess well see. Unless i sell it.

I've been looking for a catback that does not have a full size resonator, and has a flange at the back and front. If you know of any besides the Megan please let me know.

Does anyone have any pictures of the buddy club next to the frame rail? Does it sit below the rail at all? I suppose i could search for pictures, then again i am at work.

my GP Sports is slip fit. LOVE it. fits fine. youll love the ability to clear over obstacles and NOT catch a flange on it. i hate flanges anymore... snag on all sorts of crap.

Buddy Club Spec II. The only exhaust I'd ever trade my B Wave for.

If it's good enough for my car, then you know it's gotta be good to go.

I love this exhaust! I have been running it for 3 years now with out any issues. After about 3 months, I actually removed the springs from mine as they would resonate and make a slightly annoying sound. At this point, the springs are not needed.

Its funny, when I got my spec II a few years ago the general consensus was that is was to loud, now it seem that everyone and their brother wants one.

Ahh sweet, makes sense.

I figured as long as i line it up right when i shove it in everything should be good, its a really really tight fit to get the two ends together anyways so when heat gets to it id imagine it seals pretty good.

I still need to get my build thread up Im so damn busy though

Thanks for the input

I have a slip fit stainless exhaust on my FD. My set-up is perfect and will never leak like a gasket.

A little late to the thread party, but...

Motorcycles have been using slip-fit exhausts for ever. All those sportbikes with aftermarket exhausts are slip-fit.
