So, went to go get my windows tinted today. They did a good job except there a few small bubbles and something like what you see in this picture.

They stopped the tint on the back window right before the little dots, it looks ok, just wondering if everyone did that.

there are also a bunch of little lines. Dunno if hair or something got caught in it or what, but I'm probably gonna have them redo the affected windows anyway.

PS: If I accidentally posted this twice, sorry! The browser was going funky..

if you just got it done today those bubbles will more then likely go away within the next 2 weeks to a month, i had little water bubbles for a few weeks but after baking in the florida sun they went away. oh and BTW dont roll down the windows

EDIT just looked at pic, um the first one lookes a little f'd up you might want to take that back and get it redone, as for the rear window if you look closly there is 1000's of little black dots alllll around the rear window they didnt mess it up, its how mine looks also

Oh yeah, I know those dots are suppose to be there, i was wondering if they were supposed to put tint over them or not, doesn't really bother me either way, just wondering what everyone else's looks like.

As for the top picture, yeah, def getting that fixed.

It looks like they didn't tint over the rear defogger. I'm not sure what the point of tinting the back window if you leave 80% of it untinted. As for the bubbles I would suspect that most of them will disappear but keep an eye on it.

your rear window looks like it is fine, I would be concerned with that side window.

Yeah, the rear window is fine. As for the other windows, he said that he's re-do them in two weeks since I work so randomly and he's going on vacation next week.

Anyway, here are some more pictures:

Drivers side.

Passengers Side

One of the bubbles I couldn't make out yesterday with my camera.

Piece of hair or something.

I just can't get over how slick the super black looks with a tint job. Mine came dealer tinted and that's one of the reasons I fell in absolute love with it.

I had my tint done 2 weeks ago, the bubbles were there and worked out with the heat. I agree about NOT rolling down the windows. My tint guy told me the longer i wait the better off the tint will be with a 3 day minimum wait.

Give it time and see how the tint clears out.

Tiny dots and hazing will usually dry out after about 2 or so weeks depending on the weather. Dots like those will not, take it back and have it corrected. Your rear window looks fine, good tinters will not tint over a dot matrix anyway.

I have got to disagree with you there bud, because I know some VERY good tinters, and they do tint over the dot matrix, and they do it very well.

What was the outcome? I am curious to hear the results.

I'll let you know, I wont be able to have it fixed till May 5th, I'm sure it'll work out fine. It's a nice shop and the staff is really helpful.

You must have some pretty stringent tint regulations. It honestly doesnt look like it has been tinted at all.

http://www.tintcenter.com/articles/bt_shops.html

I can't say how authoritative this site is... seems pretty unbiased, and they specifically recommend tint securely attached to the frit, and avoid shops that cut strips on the back window.

I'm looking for a local shop to do mine. Stopped at one place that I've driven past dozens of times, and was definately not impressed when I stopped in to talk with him. I think the 1 dude who was working there might have been stoned or something. LOL

Does NICOclub have a thread somewhere here where people recommend local tinting places? I looked around a little, and can't find one...

EDIT:

Found this link that confirms the same info regarding the back window:http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=25287

Down near the bottom of the main NICO forums page are a bunch of regional forums. You might pose your questions there... you're likely to find a Z, Max, or 240 owner in your area that knows a good shop.

35% is the max here in GA.

cyberdeity, they didn't cut strips for the back window, they just didn't cover the dots. Which, honestly, doesn't really bother me. You can barely notice.

Maybe I'm missing something in the pics. But it looks to me like they didnt tint in the area of the rear defogger at all. It looks like they only tinted the perimeter. People have said the rear window looks fine but I just don't see the point of only tinting the perimeter of the rear window. I haven't seen a single car around here that is tinted that way. If the rear window is done then the whole thing is done. Am I missing something here?

Are you talking about the super black part without the defroster lines? That isn't part of the window..

LOL you're right. I just looked at mine. Funny how I never noticed that before. Guess I haven't spent much time behind myself.
