I have recently overheated my engine and fixed the problem but now after i have been driving for a while i have bubbeling sounds out of my radiator overflow. I was thinking head gasket or head but I have done a compression test and all 4 cyl's are 140-146. what might be the problem? best guess.

you have an air pocket in your cooling system. you need to purge the air out.

Best place to bleed the system might be? I am thinking behind the temp sensor on the intake just before the t-stat. (which i forgot to add is not in there)

there should be a bleeder screw in that area you mentioned. when doing it jack the car up as far as you can in the front. Dont run the car with the bleeder screw out either. That screw is only to release air when pouring coolant in.

I am having the same problem as this guy...bubbles in the overflow tank. I have a few questions.

Why does the car need to be jacked up?

Should I remove the bleed screw all the way? I have an S14 SR if that matters.

How long should I let the car run?

When should I put the bleed screw back on?

you jack it up so it gets the air to the top, i did mine on flat ground and it was ok

yes, remove it all the way

fill the system through the radiator, when it overflows out the bleeder hole, then replace the screw BEFORE you start the car

one nice trick is that when it starts to come out the bleeder hole you can put the bolt in with just one thread holding it up. then it still lets air out but coolant has a harder time(less messy). keep filling and occasionally pulling bleeder bolt back out to release more air. if at anytime you get absolutely zero air and pure coolant, just slap it back in and tighten (gentle on those aluminum threads). a burp funnel is a good thing to have. when you start the car it helps to have the front end in the air and the heat on full.

Had the same problem. Bled out the system and heard that loud bubling noise. Turned out I had a cracked water pump. Might not be the same case for you, just check for coolant leaks.
