Anyone on here using a BTM along with stock ECU/SAFC2? If so, what is your base timing? Would it be safe to run 17* and use the BTM at around 1* or 1.5*/psi (small turbo makes heat)? Or would I stay at 20* and just go with 1.5ish*/psi?

I would be tuning on the dyno, of course, but just wondering. I have a BTM sitting here and would like to use it. This BTM, btw, is NOT the one that has adjustable parameters for when to begin the timing retard (i.e. beging retarding @ 5psi). It simply starts retarding as soon as boost is present.

Also, anyone using a BTM/SAFC2/Stock ECU to make 300ish whp effectively/efficiently?

Looking for pros/cons here, please.

base timing would need to remain at stock 20. the btm retards timing based on boost as u said. now the problem with turning ur base timing to 17 is that if say ur running 10 psi, and u have the btm set to .5 per psi, ur base timing in boost will be 12 degrees. this is not kosher from the power side of things. granted its good to be safe but 10 psi doesnt warrant u running 12 degrees base timing. hope this helps.

That's what I was thinking, but just wanted to make certain I wasn't missing something. Math usually doesn't lie...except to me. LOL

you could even advance timing some to get better off boost power and retard a lil extra in boost

personally when i had the btm/safc/stock ecu i left the timing to stock base of 20 and retarded .5-.75 */psi

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of power did you make on that setup? How much boost were you running?
