So I'm thinking about getting a brush guard, and I'm eyeing this one on ebay. The only problem is I don't know who makes it and the seller is being a prick by not replying to my messages asking them who makes it.So... does anyone know who makes this brush guard? I don't know if you can tell just by looking at it. Most of them look the same to me.Brush guard in question

I was eyeing that also. Guess it won't work to ask the seller... hmmmm if you find out let us know. The price is certainly appealing since any others I've seen are at least in the $300 plus range.

If the seller isn't answering you I won't even bother buying it from him. Its probaly a cheaply made one.

Yeah but the thing is, when I compare it to other brush guards I've seen, it looks like it offers more protection. The very top bar is wider and goes on either side of the two vertical bars, whereas others have it going in between the two vertical bars. The vertical bars on the item in question are directly in front of the two forward most points on the vehicle (and would sorta hide two holes I have there from a collision I had) whereas others have the vertical bars inside of the two points.

Is this the OEM brush guard for the Pathfinder? This thing is beefy and is well-contoured to the front bumper. Did this ever come in black? I like this a lot.

I think it is OEM and the one I bought off of Lars was silver. I think it's looks 100x better now that it's powdercoated glossy black. Event hough it was for a '99 it mounted fine on my '01.

So after a little bit of research, I have found that the OEM brush guard is actually really well built and cheap. The factory brush guards come in the silver color (on that Pathfinder above) or black. The brush guard is 100% aluminum so it will never rust. The price from my local dealer (which is usually MUCH higher than CourtesyParts) was $408 + tax; the CourtesyParts price is $434.88 + shipping. While I would have to pay taxes at the local dealer, I would have to pay some exorbitant shipping charge from CourtesyParts to ship from Texas to NJ.

The factory brush guard part number is 999T4-XM000 (for black). You can also find these for really cheap online, some as low as $360.

That's a bit too expensive for me.

While we're on the topic of brush guards:You need to remove the tow hooks to install a guard right? After you've done that, how will you be towed (or pull someone out of something)? I understand the factory brush guards have an integrated tow hook but I don't know about aftermarket guards. Can you just use a point on those to tow/pull?

The brush guard on my pathfinder was on when I bought it, so good to know others had the answers I didn't. I have seen it in black, as there is one other pathy with it in my small town.

You are correct about the tow hooks and I'm 99% positive that the one on my 01 is OEM for a 99 and doesn't have any hookups for towing. This is something I wondered when installing it a few weeks ago. It did come with some mounting plates that I couldn't use on mine, at least I don't think I could have used them. I'll check and get back with you.

Also, you can probably look at your local Nissan/Infiniti dealers website and see if they are offering any Parts discounts. If your local dealership isn't offering any coupons, search the surrounding dealerships, one is bound to have a Parts coupon. Most likely your local dealer will also accept the other dealers coupon.

I found a 20% off all Parts/Accessories coupon at a nearby dealership, after the discount the OEM black brush guard came to $327. That's pretty damn cheap for an OEM brush guard that is guaranteed to outlast your vehicle.

Pwnin,That is a great price! I think I paid Courtesy $400 many many years ago plus shipping (local dealers wanted over $600 at the time). I searched alot of brush guard manufacturers and found the OEM to look and fit the best. A company called WAAG? made a decent looking one as well. Re: towhooks, the originals are removed and there are tow hook points in the guard if I remember correctly. And yes, aluminum and NO RUST! I usually like aftermarket but Nissan makes some nice aftermarket products (i.e. Moonroof deflector is extremely nice as well).

Kyoo, the price on that ebay guard is really inexpensive. What I dont like about is the brackets showing to mount it it thats what they are and the fact the product may not be the exact picture... Thats kind of vague. And as everyone else said, if they arent telling you manufacturer I would assume another finely made piece of dung from China.....

Yeah, I've given up on that guard I was talking about. Has anyone heard of Hunter? They make a nice looking guard similarly priced. I emailed them to ask them about the tow hook question I had earlier. Their guard has built in points to hook tow cables.

I like this Guard but in a black is this the OEM for &408+tax?

I would prefer the green pathfinders light cages over the cages on the white pathfinder in that ebay ad

Yeah, that is the OEM brush guard (which comes in black or that titanium silver color). It is $434 + shipping at CourtesyParts. At my local Nissan dealer it's $408 + tax.
