I just bought a brand new factory Nissan brush guard for my '03. It's 100% aluminum so it will never rust and it's designed to work around the contours of the Pathfinder, it fits better than any aftermarket guard. The cheapest place to buy one was from Grapevine Nissan in Grapevine, TX. I was able to get the full brush guard for $315 (not including shipping) in black. Here's a link to the page... http://www.txnissanparts.com/S...=3633

Even though it's made of aluminum, it's much thicker and much more reinforced than the aftermarket ones. The braces are extremely thick and the main bar on the front is massive (as in a human could sit on it comfortably). It will definitely take a beating. The part number for the black brush guard is 999T4-XM000. They also have a titanium colored brush guard and its part number is 999T4-XK000.

I see it for $332.20. Did you have a discount code when you bought yours? thanks

There is a Facebook fan discount. You have to become a fan of Txnissanparts.com on Facebook and then enter coupon code FBFAN to get 5% off, which should bring it to $315. It is a no-drill simple installation; you will have to cut away some of the bumper plastic where the guard mounts (down near the tow hooks) for clearance, the instructions will tell you where and how much to remove. I was able to complete the installation myself in under an hour; I would recommend having another set of hands because it's very difficult to position the guard with one person.

I have some bad news, there aren't any holes on the main bar to mount lights. The only way you could mount lights is to use a light bar mount (a tube mount) and mount them upside down on the upper bar or if you mount them on the lower bar (the bar in front of the license plate).

no problem. I was going to mount a few up on the rack but after reading that they are more useful on the brush guard I decided to go that way. Eihter way what is a good brand that won't break the bank. Ebay has tons of them. I guess I also need to know where to get the mounts for them to install on the brush guard. thanks

There are three brands which I think of first, PIAA, Hella and KC. PIAA will definitely break the bank and I'm not too knowledgeable on KC lights. I know you can get some Hellas pretty cheap, I just got some 500FF lamps for $65 and I'm going to get a single lamp for $35. I know PIAA makes some tubular light mounts, you can probably find them on their site, but I'm sure some other company makes the same thing for cheaper.

Thats a GREAT price for that Brush Guard. I paid $400 for mine (many years ago thru Courtesy). Re: Aluminum, I wish they made the step bars out of the material they made the Guard with.

Pwnin, are you going to be mounting the lights on the guard? Take some pics ( I know you will ).

It is a great price indeed, I searched high and low for the lowest possible price. The step bars on the newer R50's (at least the ones I pulled off my Pathy) are made completely of aluminum. They are super light weight and zero rust, I thought they were made of plastic at first.

I'm not going to be mounting any lights on the brush guard, I relocated my PIAA's to the cargo rack along with the new Hellas. I seriously considered just drilling a hole and threading the hole to put some lights on the brush guard but that's a lot of work and I think the aluminum would be too soft to tighten down the lights to; it would require a bold/nut setup but it would have to be a really long bolt since the main bar is closed and so thick.

10/4 on the lights. Re: side steps on later models, I had no clue they were aluminum. I will look into replacing mine with some off an 03. Mine are completely rusted thru. Complete pieces of crap.

You can go with older R50 too.

My chilkoot 99 ( first gen r50) is equiped with all aluminium side step.

Almost 300 000 kilo on the path and no rust on the bar.

I just take them off, look tougher without them

maikan,
I wonder if your step bars are different since it is a Chilkoot edition. Coworker had a 98, same bars as mine (also an SE model), and his rusted out many years ago. Are you able to snap a pic and post it? I am getting used the the Path without the bars, they were worthless except for keeping rock chips at a minimum and washing the roof. Path sits too low for them to be worthwhile. Also, pants dont get dirty from rubbing on them. Thanks

This is when the side bars were on the trucks

And yeah I took the tire off the roof, was a little bit too much

You are right these bars always got my pants dirty!

They are now sitting in the shed, maybe I will melt them into a snorkel !! :dblthumb:

I'd personally like to see the pics of the lights mounted on the guard (I would like to install a couple on mine).
