my 2 cents

Bruce was able to evolve around the martial arts, Jet Li/Jackie chan/etc studied static forms.

Bruce was a brilliant philospher and he included that into his ultimate evolution of martial arts, which revolves around the idea of "take what is useful and discard the rest".

Its unfortunate he died at such a young age, but his influence spreads even more even tho he is not with us.

yes inducted into the world in the 1990's but it's been around for quite some time. My Sifu has been traveling since the 70's promoting it. It was very popular in Asia just didn't quite hit Americas till the late 21'st century. Pretty funny my Sifu shows us his pic performing in front of President Nixon...I thought it was funny cause everyone's face was like uh...what is this?

Wushu is a performing art, it cannot hold up into any form of combat.

How many fights have you seen between 2 martial artists where they jump around like monkeys.

Even UFC/Pride/K1 style fights (Mixed Martial Arts), you don't see people doing any jumping attacks.

You guys are taking it off proportion. I meant no disrespect to Peking Opera and Wu Shu. I think they're great styles in general. I was trying to separate the differences between Bruce Lee's art vs Jet Li's art and Jackie Chan's art.

I heard stories of Chinese mafia ties to his death. I don't know thir credibility, but he did have a lot of problems with the MOB from what I have been told.

yeah, I remember the story now....some chick betty pei he was doing gave him this pill which caused brain damage, and she called some wong guy many times before calling the ambulance. Foul play is some of the "theories" behind his death.

from what i have read Bruce Lee died of brain edema (sp?) which i guess is swelling of the brain, he did have head problems before his death. Honestly, i think Bruce Lee could kick anyone's butt, i also think that Jet Li is also a great fighter, no doubt about it. But Bruce Lee didn't limit his fighting to one style, his fighting style that he made , Jeet Kune Do it was a mixture of all different styles, and technically it wasn't even a style, it was basically atapting to the situation, and hitting critical components of the enemy as best as possible. I think Bruce Lee simply wanted to be the best he can be, and he really did try at it, and i think he achieved it. It is a shame that he died at such a young age. And as for the whole "people have guns now a days" thing, i think everyone realizes that, and thats not the point. The point is simply to see who is a better fighter, not a gun shooter.

Bruce Lee was an extraordinary man, not only did he star in his own movies, he also wrote them and did other stuff in the. He was very intelligent, and like someone here said he used that in his fighting aslo. If anyone has ever read anything by Bruce Lee, you know that his writing is pretty complex and hard to understand, comapred to most poeple.
