Floridians... feel free to troll the thread. :p

21F right now, which isn't too bad but the windchill is awful. Its going to dip down to -2F tomorrow night.

I guess I've developed a taste for cold weather with winter biking and my annual drives to Washington every December (except this year). The snow isn't that bad here in St Louis, but everywhere 10-20 miles north or west of me got hit with two feet PLUS ice underneath. Here in STL we got a half inch of ice with a few inches of snow on top.

Because of the ice that arrived yesterday, despite the modest amount of snow today, its pretty dangerous to be on the roads tonight. I-70 is shut down from Kansas City all the way to west St Louis.

Yep, Blockbuster's still open here.

Image
Walked over this little mountain of snow to get to the gas station.

Image
Every shop was dead except for people in H2s, H3s, and Jeeps. Even AWD crossovers weren't on the road tonight.

Image
The wind is really the most brutal part.

Image
New neighbor has a Maserati. DC plates. Their townhome must be a corporate lease. Looks like I need to befriend them.

Ducky and the Seville shivering outside in the carport.

Home.

The snow that you see here is a lot like pavement. Despite being 4-6 inches deep in some spots, your foot only digs in a quarter to a half an inch because its frozen solid underneath.

I love the snow and cold. I don't like when it gets windy though.

Nice Maserati.

Amusingly, everyone flies into Chicago.

They'd like to fly right over, but you have to refuel.

Cables out, internet still works here though :) It isn't that cold here but it's gusting about 60 mph and that makes it feel like sandpaper across your face.

I've been keeping up with the reports. I do not envy you. I'll stay in my desert, thank you very much. 114* is better than -10* (and more) any day.

All we got was rain today, i'd much rather have snow than cold, dreary, and rainy. It looks like the snowstorm is going to miss us this week though, so no working from home for me this week :frown:

I don't envy anybody that lives in warm and hot conditions year round, i'll take the freezing cold, snow, and ice. You can always put on more clothes when it's cold, but when it's hot, eventually you're going to reach your limit on what you can take off. Plus it's fun to go drive in the snow, especially since everyone is at home hibernating and freaking out because there's a few inches of snow on the ground.

I've always heard AZ's hot weather is a lot different than other places though, so since i've never been there I can't say for sure how I would like it. I do know I don't miss the weather in GA for sure though, I HATE GA weather... :squint:

F*** a bunch of snow and ice.

I can mow the lawn in 118* weather. Just need a big hat and a lot of cool water.

Did I mention I drove around almost all day today with the top down? :)

All are welcome - We'll make room for ya.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE snakes and critters. That's the one thing keeping me from taking residence down south.

I think I would get along well in Portland where the winter and summer are reasonable and spring and fall are generously long. I'd just need a surgical mask to avoid the homeless odor.

Speaking of the homeless, I wonder how many people are gonna die in the next couple of days. There's a lot of homeless people from Texas to Maine and there's no way they can all make it to shelters. :frown:

The smart ones packed their bags and hitchhiked to Portland.

Here in STL they put 50 extra beds in the shelters in preparation for the storm.

Weird part of this storm is that we are getting thunderstorms simultaneously. I don't hate warm weather I just hate sweating for no other reason than it being hot and humid, I'd rather live with the cold.

Humidity sucks.

I like it when I go outside and there's no rotting wet leaves, soggy muddy ground, and puddles to get my cars dirty. :)

Dust? Ain't no thang:

We have those here too, but like western Oregon they're very unlikely to approach civilized areas, like your porch.

We live in a subdivision that just happens to be built in the middle of a desert. We invaded their territory, not the other way around. Sure, the rattlesnakes suck, but I'd still rather live here than somewhere in the path of that snowstorm.

That's why I'm happy to let them roam free in their native land.

I love snow but I hate ice. Winter is essential to sanity and social stability, as it gives people time to reflect and hibernate. But too much winter results in suicide. Too little winter results in Floridians and Californians.

Good point.

We reflect and hibernate when it exceeds 115. Doesn't last long, but that's the idea time of year for web work, cleaning house, writing long-overdue letters, and indoor sports. With the A/C cranked. Under the ceiling fan. Wait, wut?
