Evening fellas!

I am new here and plan to be lurking around quite frequently. Long story short I had to sell my F-150 to buy something with 4 doors, after searching a bit I finally made a purchase, and boy have I been happy I did all day!

I bought a 2003 G35 with 111k miles on it, I spent $6500. I think I did O.K. price wise, it appears to have almost all the features on it that were available at the time, navi, power everything, bose system, sat radio, power memory seats, adjustable rear seats, sunroof. Not sure If I am missing anything, but I could be.

Few quick questions: (I will be spending a long time with the search function in the next few days)

1. Age old debate between regular and premium gas, what are your experiences?

2. Does it require full synthetic?

3. Anything I should look out for/do to the car? I think she looks pretty sharp as she sits, but what do I know :)

4. Updated maps and software for navi, I know it functions off of a CD (the one in it is for 2008), any use getting latest CD? Cost and where to buy? Any upgrades to the software I should seek out that help with function?

Thanks a lot and I look forward to more posts in the future! I am in the process of registering for the reliability poll as well, hopefully I can add some insight! If nothing more than a statistic I am happy!

Noah

Welcome to NICO! I don't remember if the 03's require premium...but the easiest way to check is if the fuel cap says it requires premium, then use it. It does not require full synthetic...but it won't hurt.

One thing to watch out for, is the AC board/Head deck. They have been known to just go out randomly...search the boards for the details.

Welcome to Nico!! And, congrats!!
From what I've read 2003 thru 2008 G35 SEDAN's - regular is fine. Prem is recommended for improved performance.
All 2009 and up G37 Sedan's require Prem.

ALL COUPEs require Premium - from Owner's Manuals

from your owner's manual....readily available via interweb!!
2003 model
Sedan models
Use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane
rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock Index)
number (Research octane number 91).
For improved vehicle performance, INFINITI
recommends the use of unleaded premium
gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91
AKI number (Research octane number 96).

Nice find! Looks great.

I tell you something I noticed on my Z since I went to synthetic. For the longest time my mileage was 19.7. I noticed the other day that it had moved to 19.9. Don't know if the synthetic changed that or not. If so, it is one more reason to use it.

I had read in a mustang mag an article where they replaced all fluids with syn and gained 7HP at the wheels.

congrats on the G!!!

the newest maps can be found on the infiniti website... its like $250... is it worth it, well depends on where you live. If you live in the city and mostly travel major roads then id say a 2008 map is fine. But if you freqent the back roads and take alot of road trips to areas you not familar with, id get the update. $250 is about the price you would pay for a stand alone navi update.
