Ok, I know there are a few of these threads going around but here's the deal. This will take place in spring when the temps here are around 60-70 degrees and it will be at a closed road on my cousins farm. The guy I'm racing is running a single overhead cam 1.6 liter engine with a home made custom turbo kit. I'm running a S14 SR20DET.

Now this dude, with this EG6 which ran 14.3 this past season, thinks he can haul the crap out of my car... maybe because many of the 240's here in Minnesota are riced out pos's with fart cannons the size of whoever's driving the car's head. I haven't run the quarter mile with my car yet but I know it's faster then a buddy of mine who's running a blacktop S13 SR and he ran 13.2 with open diff. I'm at 14.7 psi by the way.

Because he's so damn cocky, I want to win by as far a margin as absolutely possible so here's what I'm gonna do just for that specific race and want an opinion to see if I can improve or this will be the absolute limit of a stock S14 with stock T28.

Boost 17psi with FPR turned up a bit using 110 octane race gas. I'm trying to squeeze as much out of those 370cc injectors as possible. I'm also about 1000 feet above sea level so I figure, with the lower atmospheric pressure, I can run slightly higher boost just for this particular event.

This race will be from a dead stop, I have Cusco 2 way LSD and a set of Azenis tires on my stockies which I'm going to use. This guy has open diff, 17 inch wheels with some Kumho 712's. Bad for him imo.

Here's the rest of my specs engine/fuel wise.

You dont have to do none of that turning up the boost..You will beat him at stock boost.Turbo d16's are slow.A friend of mine has a turbo 93 Si running 14psi.And when we raced it didnt even look like he was racing,I had him by 5 or 6 car's by the top of 2nd..And i was at 7psi.Its a easy win.you sould have no problems beating him.

A local guy around our area has a sohc 96 with a greddy kit running at 10lbs and he was only able to run a best of 14.5. You should have absolutely no problem at 14lbs, its not worth it to risk breaking anything bc of a civic.

Yeah, you're right, no need to wreck my motor for his sake. Just that it pisses me off when he keeps on going on and on and on about how fast his car is. I just want to shut him up once and for all. I'll just run 14psi with race gas, more then enough.

again

you would kill him

i race a local guy with a b16 in a hatch and he has "block work" which consists of cam gears, valve job and blue printed along with an intake and MUFFLER(not exhaust)

i pwned him with my basic setup at stock boost(S13 SR)

not all sohc's are slow. More specifically the exospeed all motor sohc drag car. Runs low 10's and I still am baffled by how they do it.

Isn't it a SOHC out of an accord though? A 2.2 L or something close to that? A D-Series SOHC is not going to yield a lot of power, without a huge sum of money involved. And even then, it is not going to be as fast as it's B or K Series brethren.
