Ok so, the problem started when I was parked outside and I had some snow on my windshield. So I flicked on the wipers but they only pushed a bit and then got stuck because of all the snow. So I tried them again but it only mad a thumping noise and nothing would happen. So I moved them down to the rest position and tried again but just the thumping spinning noise. Now when I manually move the wipers up, only one will move. The motor seams to only push them down but not bring them back up again. The motor sill works and spins fine it just doesn’t move the wipers. All this is on my black 1992 240sx.

Try and tighten the nut(s) holding the wiper to the little posts sticking out of the hood--you may have just rounded the splines off a little.

and then move to Arizona--where a light dusting of snow is front page news!!!!

What's happened to me with every Nissan that I've owned, is the wiper linkage pulls free from its "ball" mount. The plastic bushings at the end of the linkages become worn and when pressure or resistance is applied to the wipers, the arm comes loose. Pain in the ***!!! The only real fix is to buy a new linkage arm, that comes with new bushings, Otherwise you'll be messing with this problem forever. Wind on the highway will cause this to pull free too!! Good luck!
