I noticed a shiny object on my garage floor near my rear wheel so I picked it up.

Image

A piece of the wheel lock broke off from the rest of the lugnut that is still on the rear wheel

Image

Metal fatigue but I hope the dealer can remove what is left otherwise the rear wheel cannot come off

Image

Anyone ever experience this?

Wow...never heard of that on such a new car. I'm sure the dealer would be able to fix it. They may have to drill out the stud.

If you can only get one more on each wheel to do that you would be FULLY protected against wheel theft!

Update

The other rear wheel lock also broke off.

Took my G37S to the dealer and they replaced them under warranty

Sounds like a defective set...I'd have the dealer put a new set on for you....and maybe do a few oil changes for your trouble.

I found out that wheel locks for a G35 do not work on a G37S

The G37S wheel bolts are much longer than the ones on a G35 and need different wheel locks

yes, the g35 have a 1.25 stud, while the g37 have a 1.50 stud. i hope you didnt screw up the threading on your studs?

I've had my dealer over tighten a regular lug. I believe it was around 150lbs before it would break free. I was pissed and they had to replace the lug nut.
