Broken Visor Mirror Cover?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I have an 08 EX35 with ~ 7500 miles on it. My wife opened the mirror cover on the passenger seat visor and the plastic hinge broke right off. In looking at the it, the plastic hinge is very fragile but the metal springs on the mirror cover are pretty strong. Told the dealer about it and they replaced it no-charge under the warranty. When asked if this has happend before, they said it happend to another customer.

Glad it was free b/c instead of replacing that $10 plastic cover, they replaced the entire visor. They said the part was ~ $355! Ouch!!!

Anyone else have this problem? Curious.

Apparently, this is a common problem.

My wife's vanity mirror cover (passenger side) broke off .. and I asked for a replacement.

And a few day later .. my driver's side vanity mirror came off !!!! .. WTF ???? And it looked pretty warped from the summer heat ... I called Infiniti and told them to get a replacement for the driver's side vanity mirror cover as well.

They replaced both for free .. it's all under warranty.

I also had this happen, tho the dealership service dept. told me it wasn't covered under warranty. I've been trying to find an EX at a scrapyard to get the vanity piece replacement cheaply. The car repair manual is available online for free if you know where to look.

This happened to me too. I just found the passenger side vanity mirror cover broken one day. One of the plastic hinges cracked. Hopefully I can get if replaced under warranty.

So mine broke too. It's a really cheap design. I tried ordering the part which I thought was INFINITI 964201BA0A GENUINE OEM SUNVISOR COVER but when that arrived, it was some other small piece of plastic, not the right part. I tried to find it here http://www.orderinfinitiparts.com/parts ... CallOut=11

I called the Infiniti dealership for help, and they said the part is $224 (I found it for $120 online), which is the entire driver side visor. They said you can't buy that mirror cover alone, and they've never heard of them breaking before. Does anyone have any suggestion as to where to find this part?

My Passenger side broke on my ( 2008 ex35) also compliments of my wife. I learned you have to but the entire unit, the cover isn't available. Not spending $150 OEM. I found one online but not sure its compatible yet.

Same thing happened to me twice on my 2007 Sentra. Once, when the car was about two years old, dealer replaced under warranty, Now for the second time, just this week. Don't know if it's the soflo heat but man, its cheaply made. $.99 Chinese construction. As noted by other posters, you cant just buy the mirror cover. You have to buy the entire visor to replace the mirror cover, they are about $90 on eBay. My solution - super glue mirror cover back on mirror. Who uses a mirror on a car anyway? chics. But more to the point, this is emblematic of how cheap Nissan/Infiniti products are getting. I also own a 1999 Q45t, and the mirrors on the visor are engineered much better, felt covered and hinged with pins on the side. That was the pinnacle of Nissan quality. I'll bet the new Infiniti's use the same cheap plastic......
