So my trunk won’t open using any of the buttons or even with the key and the trunk power switch is on and so the only other way I could think of to open it is using the emergency release but the person I got the car from had drilled the amp up against the trunk access from inside the car so there’s only a couple inches to reach through to try and grab the emergency release and so I was wondering if anybody had any other suggestions

Are you sure it's the right key for the car? That seems very strange...I've unlocked my M56x trunk when the battery dies with the key many many times (to get my power bank charger).

You don't have a valet switch in the glove box that's turned off by any chance, do you?

So I’ve already made a post about this but didn’t get much feedback but basically none of the power options to open my trunk will work and not even the key will open it (it only turns one way) and the valet switch in the glovebox is on. I did just have a string tied to the emergency release to be able to use it but I waited too long to actually fix it and the emergency release broke the other day so now I have no way to get into the trunk and so I’m just looking for any suggestions on what to try next.

While we appreciate that you'd like to have this issue resolved, cross-posting (i.e. posting the same message in more than one forum board) or starting a new thread for an open topic is frowned upon. It's confusing and often counterproductive. Topics merged.

I would think if the valet switch is on the trunk is locked. I assume you have tried the switch both ways?

I locked my keys in my y34 m45 over the weekend and wound up having to use some airbags to force it open a bit on the driver side seam, then stuck a locksmith's tool in to pull the emergency release on the top of the trunk lid. I just kept scraping the hook across the underside of the lid until it grabbed onto the lever.

In the end I also needed to readjust the striker to bring it back down to where it should be. It was a "journey."

Guess this was an oversight for y34s, I've seen posts where later models wouldn't allow you to lock your keys in the trunk.
