broken stud

i am an idiot and broke another stud on the front of my s14. i know how too take the caliper off (i think) but how do i get the rotor off and stud out. I saw a guy at work do it once for me and he put a smallscrew in a hole and it popped it off. is that true thanks for the help :help

That is correct. You will need to remove the entire caliper and the mounting bracket. If you cant get a proper thread screw, try gently tapping on the rotor hat with a hammer as you pull. Once off, you can tap the broken stud out of the hub. I use loc-tite when i put the new stud in, just because i didnt the first time and it was loose and would spin when installing the lug nut. Tap the new stud in from behind (might require the brake dust shield, should be 3-4 phillips head screws) and then put everything back together. The final tightening of your lug nut should fully seat the new stud, and the loc-tite will keep it there!

thanks for the help. i am going to have one of the guys at work do it for me. i was too lazy but i may need to know again.

hey this is knida on the subject.

anyone know the torque specs for the lug nuts?

someone told me something like 50 lbs. and another guy jusst said get it on as tight as you can...

Torque them to 80 ft-lbs. Whoever said "as tight as you can" should spend an eternity in hell, removing broken and stripped axle studs.
