So now that my shocks are in good shape, I'm wondering about fixing the one thing on the car that doesn't work as it should, my remote lock system.

A few months ago, my remote got rather flaky and stopped working over the space of a few days, and then never worked again. I checked the keyfob itself, and discovered that the battery connections were pretty loose and didn't hold up well. When I taped them up, nothing worked. I tried resetting the programming on the car, but no go.

Without a CONSULT reader, is there any way for me to determine whether or not the problem is in the car, or the keyfob? I've looked at the FSM, but if there's a process in there that'll run a diagnostic on the receiver, I didn't see it.

Any suggestions?

Try associating the fob with another 199-1996 G50.

If it doesn't go, used calpped out ones are $40-$55 on eBay.

New one from Joe twice as much.

Unfortunately, I have no access to another Q. I'd have tried this already, if I did.

Might as well purchase a new keyfob from Joe while the sale is in effect- if it turns out it still wont fix the issue, search for a used receiver from a member here or a boneyard.......most likely it is the keyfob as there have been no reports here over the last 7 years of keyless receiver issues.

Please try what it says in pages EL-148 to EL-151 in the 1994 Q45 FSM.

Taking a look now, should be able to test using method 2. The remote itself does absolutely nothing. No beeps, nada. It's hopefully just a dead remote instead of a dead controller, but as the BCM had been replaced in the car the year before last, anything's possible. I think $85 might be a bit steep for a new remote from Joe, so I'll probably have to look at some refurbished ones or maybe one of the "generic" ones on eBay that supposedly works.

Does anyone have experience with a non-Infiniti remote on a 94-96?
