broken odometer

my odometer stopped working on my s14 and i wanted to get it fixed. i searched and it seems like theres a gear inside that strips? dunno if thats my problem but if so can i just replace that gear or do i have to get a new odometer assy. from the dealer? thanks

you can go hunt one down at the junk yards. it's a fairly common problem...
